Shoppers in Wisconsin got a surprise when a bear strolled into a grocery store, headed straight for the beer cooler, and set up home on a shelf.
The bear's beer adventure occurred last Thursday in Hayward, Wisconsin, when the 125lb black bear walked through the shop's automatic doors, made a beeline for the booze department, and climbed 12 feet onto a shelf in the beer cooler, where it sat contentedly for about an hour.
Store workers evacuated customers and called in wildlife authorities to deal with the bear.
Eventually, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources officials tranquilised the bear and removed it from the beer area.
Employees at the store said that, while the bear seemed tame and very happy to be sitting amongst the chilled beer, it didn't actually sample any of the booze.
