A top tip for any would-be felons out there: if a police officer stops you walking around with a bag full of stolen goods, and asks you what's in the bag, the answer 'my ex-wife's sex toys' won't stop them arresting you.
A man in Salem, Massachusetts found that out the hard way, after he was nabbed by police for breaking into three cars and stealing items from them.
A patrolman had first spotted Michael Conway, 34, walking around with an empty bag at about 3a.m.on Monday. When he was spotted again an hour later with a full bag, he was stopped and asked what was in it.
His response - that it was full of his former wife's sex toys - didn't put officers off actually checking the bag's contents. When they did, they discovered items including an iPod, a GPS unit, and numerous credit cards. Reports do not suggest that any sex toys were discovered.
Conway, who says he has a drug problem, has been detained without bail.
