THQ released the following this morning:

AGOURA HILLS, Calif.--(Business Wire)-- THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) today announced that it has been notified by World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. ("WWE") that the WWE has extended the renewal notice deadline for the videogame license held by the joint venture between THQ and JAKKS Pacific, Inc. to December 31, 2009. The renewal would extend the license through December 31, 2014.

THQ noted that WWE's action provides the company with increased flexibility with respect to the renewal of the videogame license.

What this means is that THQ now has until the end of the year to decide whether they want to commit to handling WWE's video games for the next five years, or allow another video game company to take over the titles. Of course, THQ recently released the latest version of Smackdown vs. Raw (which comes out yearly now), while also putting out the "Legends Of Wrestlemania" game earlier this year, with all titles doing well.
