View Full Version : Complaints from Last Night's WWE Raw/Slammy Awards

Last night, Dennis Miller hosted Raw , which was also the Slammy awards night. He seemed to have some difficulty getting his jokes over with the crowd in the beginning of the evening, but eventually the crowd reacted to him.

The show was one of WWE's many three-hour editions they have every year. The most interesting moment of the night for me came when Vince came out to present a Slammy and made comments about the host and the crowd.

I was assuming we were going to see the nice Vince we have seen in recent months, but he proceeded to insult the crowd for basically not getting Dennis Miller's jokes.

During Maria's acceptance speech for Diva of the Year, Batista came out and did a half-comedy half-promo segment. He interrupted Maria in an obvious reference to Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift, but he then moved into a promo about how he was screwed out of his title.

I thought the WWE missed a great opportunity for some good comedy here. They could have had Chris Masters interrupt and say Eve was the Diva of the year to further their on screen connection, or Santino could have used it to say something bad about Vickie Guerrero. It was done with the intention of comedy and ended with a police escort, kind of weird to me.

The tournament to decide the superstar of the year had only four men competing. Four? They didn't have Jericho, Edge, HHH, HBK or any other guys you would assume would be in the category.

I know Edge has been injured but he was still great earlier this year. Why they even had a tournament and not a vote is beyond me. I guess they wanted Cena to win without letting the fans vote for him.

By the way, was any of this actually voted on by fans or are they making that up? Anyone who can tell me would be greatly appreciated.

Some other notable moments were; Jeff Hardy winning and his brother accepting, Hornswoggle getting one over on DX, DX screwing Jerishow out of their rematch for the tag belts, and a bunch of guys in DX gear ejecting him from the arena, and Sheamus winning Breakout Superstar of the Year.

Sheamus as Champion was played up less than I expected it to be, maybe the WWE is regretting their mistake. I have read that a lot of people think the end of their Tables match was botched, and that Sheamus was supposed to crash through the outside table at the same time, thereby leaving Cena champion in the case of a tie.

If that is the case I am sure they will have him lose it back quickly, but if they intended him to win, then they made an odd choice.

Last night's Raw was strange in a lot of ways. Miller was not the best guest host and seemed to be less into wrestling than anyone else I have seen host, other than the NASCAR guys.

Miller was making intelligent jokes to a kid-filled audience; what was he thinking? I get that's his style, I have been a fan of his for years, but he should have altered it to fit the moment.

The Slammy's were predictable and not as entertaining as they could have been. The Slammy Awards would make a great online video for WWE.com, but having it spread throughout a show just feels weird. I felt they missed out on a lot of chances for good comedy segments, and the matches were uneventful.

I thought they would have more coverage of the events from TLC but they seemed to be more focused on the Slammy's. Not a great show overall, and for a three-hour special, it disappointed.

I would also like to point out that while these dumb awards get a three hour show, the Tribute to the Troops only gets an hour.

The WWE is great for going over there and putting on a show every year for the troops, but why spend a ton of money doing it to only have a one hour show on NBC.

This should be the three-hour special and the Slammys should have been the one hour show. Just my opinion.

I agree with all of that, especially why they only had those 4 people in Superstar of the Year. That is just stupid as was noted, i can think of many other wrestlers who should have been up for it. This show was another fine example of WWE imploding on itself and I bet TNA love write ups just like this.
