ECW on SyFy Report - December 28th, 2009

We are live on tape from East Rutherford, New Jersey and your announcers are Josh Mathews and Byron Saxton.

Christian is introduced by the ring announcer Savannah and he joins Josh and Byron at the announce table. Christian calls Saxton ‘Bryant Gumbel’ before he sits down.

Match Number One: Matt Hardy versus Finlay in an ECW Homecoming Qualifying Match

They lock up and they move around the ring and Finlay with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. Finlay returns to the side head lock and then Finlay works on the arm and takes Hardy down with a single leg trip as Finlay changes his focus to the leg. Hardy with a front face lock but Finlay backs Hardy into the corner. Finlay with a clean break. Finlay with a kick and Irish whip but he runs into an elbow. Hardy goes to the turnbuckles but Finlay pulls Hardy off the turnbuckles and Hardy appears to have hurt his knee. Finlay waits for Hardy to get up but Finlay goes after the knee. Finlay works on the leg while Hardy gets to the ropes. Finlay gets Hardy up for a slam and slams Finlay into the ropes as he returns to the leg. Hardy kicks Finlay off but Finlay tries for another slam but Hardy with a neckbreaker for a near fall. Hardy punches Finlay and misses a clothesline so Finlay returns to the injured leg. Finlay gets a near fall. Finlay with a European uppercut and then he kicks Hardy as the referee warns Finlay. Hardy with a Side Effect for a near fall. Hardy hits a second Side Effect and gets another near fall. Hardy tries for the Twist of Fate but Finlay escapes the hold. Finlay goes to the turnbuckles but Hardy pulls Finlay off the turnbuckles to return the favor from earlier in the match. Hardy goes up top for a moonsault but he misses it when Finlay moves out of the way. Finlay gets a near fall on Hardy and he shows his frustration. Hardy with a modified Twist of Fate for the three count.
Winner: Matt Hardy

After the match, Josh asks Christian about the Over the Top Rope Challenge that will see the eight Homecoming King candidates see who faces Christian at the Royal Rumble. That match will take place on January 12th.

Zack and Rosa are walking in the back and they see Tommy Dreamer sitting to the side. Zack wonders why Tommy is still here and he suggests that Tommy hang it up. Dreamer says that he is sick and tired of losing to guys like Zack each week. He is just a catchphrase and a stupid haircut who has no idea what Dreamer sacrificed to get here. Dreamer tells Ryder if he beats him tonight, he will leave ECW forever.

We go to commercial.

We are back and did you know that ECW is the King of Syfy?

Ezekiel Jackson comes to the ring. We see the highlights from two weeks ago when William Regal gave the rose to Ezekiel Jackson instead of Vladimir Kozlov.

Jackson says that two weeks ago they decided to rid themselves of a traitor. Kozlov was a weak link in a strong and powerful chain. Their goal was to dominate ECW. He says that Vlad became a liability. He says that the end has come and has awakened against you. . .

Zeke is interrupted by Vladimir Kozlov’s music and he storms to the ring and he grabs Jackson and sends him over the top rope to the floor. Kozlov wants Jackson to get back in the ring but Jackson backs away and says that Kozlov will get it.

Tommy Dreamer is joined in the locker room by Christian and he talks about Tommy’s match with Zack. Christian says that he believes in Dreamer but wonders if this is the right thing. Dreamer says that everyone knows what ECW means to him. They have walked in each other’s shoes and he has something to prove tonight. Christian says that no matter what happens tonight, Tommy is the heart and soul of ECW. Dreamer says that he wants a rematch and Christian says that if Dreamer wins tonight, he gets it.

We go to commercial.

Match Number Two: Evan Bourne versus Mike Knox in an ECW Homecoming Qualifying Match

Knox with a kick to Bourne followed by a forearm to the head and then he sends Bourne into the turnbuckles. Bourne with a kick to the leg but Knox picks up Bourne and puts him on the top rope. Knox punches Bourne but Bourne with a body scissors to take Knox to the floor with him. Bourne tries to send Knox into the ring but Knox sends Bourne hard into the ringside barrier. The referee continues his count as Knox returns to the ring. Bourne staggers in at the last second. Knox kicks Bourne as soon as he re enters the ring. Knox with a short arm clothesline and a near fall. Knox with a reverse chin lock and forearm to the back. Knox with a punch to Bourne and he tries for a suplex but Bourne with a knee to the head to get out of the hold. Bourne with a leaping knee to the head but Knox with a cross body and Bourne gets his hand on the ropes to stop the count and allow the match to continue. Knox misses a knee drop but Bourne with a knee to the head and then he goes up top but Knox crotches Bourne. Knox sends Bourne to the apron
but Bourne with a kick and then he hits the shooting star press for the three count.
Winner: Evan Bourne

Tommy Dreamer is talking to Tiffany in the hallway as he emerges on what might be his final walk to the ring. We go to commercial.

We are back with the Raw Rebound.

Yoshi Tatsu is in the back giving Japanese lessons to Goldust and Goldust is not doing well and the tics are back. Trent Barreta and Caylen Croft stop by and they say that they will be future tag team champions. Croft and Barreta ask if they are sad that tonight might be Dreamer’s last night. Croft and Barreta call them dead weight and then Goldust says something in Japanese and they leave.

Match Number Three: Tommy Dreamer versus Zack ‘Attack’ Ryder with Rosa Mendes in a Could this be it for Dreamer Match

They lock up and Ryder with a side head lock take down but Dreamer with a head scissors and Ryder escapes. Dreamer with a side head lock take down and Ryder with a hip toss but he misses an elbow. Dreamer with a hip toss and arm drag into an arm bar. Ryder punches Dreamer but Dreamer with an Irish whip and bulldog for a near fall. Dreamer catches Ryder when Ryder tries to float over and Dreamer hits a running power slam for a near fall. Dreamer with a pump handle suplex and Ryder rolls to the floor. Ryder goes to the apron and he hits a cannonball off the apron. Ryder hides behind Rosa and then he punches Dreamer and sends Tommy into the ring post. We go to commercial as Ryder continues the attack and they return to the ring.

We are back and Ryder with an arm bar and then he slams Dreamer’s arm into the mat and Ryder stomps on the arm. Ryder returns to the arm bar and Rosa screams her approval. Dreamer catches Ryder on a cross body attempt but Ryder counters with a divorce court and gets a near fall. Ryder with elbows to the head. Ryder punches Dreamer in the head and then Dreamer misses a charge into the corner and hits the ring post. Ryder with a baseball slide as Dreamer hangs in the corner. Ryder kicks Dreamer in the head and then he measures for the running kick in the corner but Dreamer moves out of the way. Dreamer with a neck breaker and then he drives Ryder into the mat. Dreamer with a Lo Down and he gets a near fall. Dreamer goes up top but Ryder stops him and crotches Dreamer after a punch. Ryder with a superplex attempt but Dreamer knocks Ryder off. Dreamer is met with a kick and Ryder tries for the Zack Attack, but Dreamer counters with a near fall. We get a series of near falls by Ryder and Dreamer. Ryder with a leg lariat for a near fall. Ryder goes up top but he does it slow enough that Dreamer is able to recover and he puts Ryder in the Tree of Woe and we get the E . . . C . . . W baseball slide into the corner and it was vintage. Dreamer with a DDT but Ryder has his foot under the rope despite the three count. Dreamer thinks that he won the match but the referee tells him the match must continue. Dreamer pulls Ryder from the ropes and then hits an elbow drop but Dreamer almost gets pinned from too casual a cover. Dreamer puts Ryder on the turnbuckles again and Dreamer tries for a belly-to-back suplex off the turnbuckles but Ryder counters with a cross body and gets the three count.
Winner: Zack Ryder

After the match, Dreamer has the mic and he says the first time in this building he was sitting in the building at the second time he ever saw a WWE show. He says that he saw a live Piper’s Pit. He says that there are so many people he wants to thank. He thanks everyone from the original ECW and the new ECW. He says that this has been his dream since he was nine years old. This proves that if you have passion for what you do, you can make it anywhere. He says that he made it in ECW and he made it in the WWE. He says that there are so many great people in this organization that he is going to miss. Dreamer starts to cry despite his claim that he would not cry. Tommy says that the three letters mean so much to him. He has always considered the fans his family. He talks about how his daughters have a list that says what their parents do. One daughter says that his daddy falls down a lot, but his other daughter says that he gets up a lot. Tommy says that he fell down a lot but the fans made him get up. He says that life is hard but you have to keep fighting and trying. He says that he will miss everyone and thanks everyone.

Dreamer takes off his ECW shirt and leaves it in the center of the ring before he leaves the ring. He goes over to his wife and children and brings his daughters over the ringside barrier and then he goes up the ramp and does his signature pose one last time before going to the back.
