WEEKEND PREVIEW, NEWS & NOTES

The big shows this weekend is the return of UWF/TNA to North Carolina. The top matches Friday in Williamston, N.C., are America’s Most Wanted vs. the James Gang, Jerry Lynn vs. Alex Shelley, A.J. Styles & Christopher Daniels vs. Samoa Joe & Petey Williams.Before the show Friday, the UWF announced that Village Pharmacy, one of the sponsors of the event, will host a "Don't Fire Eric Young" pep rally at their store from 3-4 pm. More details will be posted later this week on uwfusa.com, but Eric Young will attend that pep rally.

Christian Cage vs. Monty Brown headlines a big show for Maryland Championship Wrestling this Saturday, and details are below.

Chikara Pro has a big show this Saturday in Hellertown, Penn., with Icarus vs. Jigsaw in a mask vs. hair match, Chris Hero vs. Shane Storm, Eddie Kingston vs. Larry Sweeney, Arik Cannon vs. Jan Moxley, Equinox vs. Claudio Castognoli, Mike Quackenbush vs. Gran Akuma.

The Dragon Gate show that was slated for New Alhambra/former ECW Arena in Philadelphia tonight has been canceled. Instead, Dragon Gate is working with Pro Wrestling Unplugged for a ‘mega-show’ on Saturday. Check out the info below.

In other news…

Congratulations to Mike Kruel, who recently signed a WWE developmental contract. Kruel has the right look & physique, and he wrestles primarily in the Maryland area. He made one or two appearances in Ring of Honor as part of the Embassy.

Austin Aries, American Dragon and Dragon Kid have been added to the PWG “Battle of Los Angeles” tournament in September. They replace the Briscoe brothers and Alex Koslov.

Jersey All Pro has added Low Ki vs. Archadia and Teddy Hart vs. Jay Lethal to its next big show on July 29. Visit www.japw.net for more info.
