The word going around the industry is that FOX and Time Warner Cable Systems have finally reached a deal on a new retransmission consent agreement.

The news of the renewal comes on the very day FOX owned-and-operated programming would have gone dark due to the expiration of the prior deal. A short-term extension had kept that from happening, and it now apparently will never happen, as principle terms have been reached on a full renewal deal.

Terms of the "comprehensive distribution agreement" have not yet been revealed, but FOX executives have called the deal "fair." FOX had been pushing for a $1/subscriber/month fee for its package of programming that includes FOX, FX and, in some of the markets, networks like My Network TV (home to WWE SmackDown!).

Industry analysts speculate that the final agreement probably fell in the 50-60-cent range, but that is far from confirmed.
