But will the quest for perfection mean a slippery release date?

On the latest episode of Nintendo's self-produced Nintendo Week show (which appears every week on the Wii's Nintendo Channel... or see it right here on YouTube), Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime boldly stated that their goal for the new Wii Zelda is nothing less than perfection -- however long it takes them.
"Right now, it's still in development," Reggie said. "But the key message that Mr. [Shigeru] Miyamoto and Mr. [Eiji] Aonuma are telling us is that it really has to be perfect when it launches -- that really is what the Zelda fan is expecting." And when exactly does that mean it'll launch? Reggie was cagey.

"So for all the Zelda fans out there right now, what I would say is, enjoy Spirit Tracks, and know that the Zelda title for Wii is going to come out when it's perfect."

Well, that's reassuring. Reggie has previously stated that the game was never "committed" to 2010, but Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said recently in an interview that a 2010 release was indeed the goal. Now Reggie seems to have taken a step back once more, reverting to the vaguer "it'll be out when it's perfect" status.

But hey, at least we know that means it'll be perfect! Hopefully...
