New game will take place over real-world locations, feature expanded multiplayer options.
In keeping with the recent trend toward handhelds for multiplayer-oriented games, Namco Bandai has announced that the next Ace Combat will be returning to the PlayStation Portable. Titled Joint Assault, it will put more of an emphasis on multiplayer with improved co-op and versus modes.
Up to eight players will be able to join in the online mode, with the game include a four-player co-op campaign mode. Combat will take place over real-world locations such as Tokyo, London, San Francisco and more.
Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception was the franchise's most recent game on the PSP. It was generally well-regarded for its excellent controls and graphics.
Joint Assault is currently scheduled for a summer release in Asia, with a North American release coming later this year.
