The highly anticipated welterweight rematch between Jon Fitch and Thiago Alves has been officially announced for UFC 111 on March 27th.

Earlier this week, the world's biggest MMA show confirmed 10 bouts for the pay-per-view broadcast, however waited until today to finalize the hotly-rumored 170-pound battle which now completes the blockbuster fight card.

Take away his lopsided UFC 97 loss to reigning welterweight king, Georges St-Pierre, Fitch has been one of the division's very best. He holds a dominant 21-3 professional record and will be riding a three-fight winning streak into the Jersey Shore.

Pretty much everything stated above regarding Fitch could be said for Alves, except the Brazilian holds a 16-6 record and was just humbled by GSP in his last outing at UFC100 in July. Prior to the unanimous decision defeat, "The Pitbull" had won seven consecutive Octagon scraps with most ending in devastating fashion.

Fitch sent him on that win streak when he handed, or up-kicked, Alves a TKO defeat at "UFC Fight Night 5" in 2006. The pair's mulligan was originally slated for UFC 107 back in December, however Alves was forced off the card with a knee injury.
