Sherdog.com is reporting that UFC Hall of Famer Randy "The Natural" Couture (18-10) is in discussion to take on former UFC middleweight champion Rich "Ace" Franklin (25-5) in June.

According to Sherdog, Randy Couture has confirmed that he has been approached with the bout and that it is in the early stages of planning and negotiation and could hinge on Couture's prior film commitments.

"The Natural" last fought at UFC 109: Relentless where he headlined in a bout against Mark Coleman. Couture dominated the matchup and took home a submission win, the third of his career. Since making his return to the light heavyweight division, the 46 year old has gone 2-0 with his other win coming by way of unanimous decision against Brandon Vera.

Rich Franklin moved from the middleweight division to the light heavyweight division after being run out of town by Anderson Silva. "Ace" lost his title to Silva in a barrage of knees and couldn't get past those same knees when they fought for the second time. Franklin's 205lbs return was successful in that he stopped Matt Hamill with a liver kick. He went on to lose a very close split decision to Dan Henderson before taking two hard fights against Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort (respectively) at a catchweight of 195lbs. The Cincinatti native took home a unanimous decision win over Silva and lost via TKO (strikes) to Belfort. His last appearance was that against Vitor Belfort.

Being scheduled for June, if this fight comes to fruition it will likely take place on UFC 115 where Chuck Liddell takes on Tito Ortiz for the third time.
