Robert Pattinson has admitted that he finds it tough making new friends as fame has made him suspicious of everyone.

The Twilight star told The Sun that the constant travelling required for his career has meant that his guitar is now his only "true companion".

"Being well known is a real burden," he said, adding that he is paranoid about everyone's motives. "If people push themselves on me I find it gruelling and repulsive," he continued.

"If I even think someone wants to approach me, I feel the need to scream, 'What do you want of me'. Then later I think, 'What if this person only wanted to be nice?'"

Having shot to fame overnight after appearing in the first of the Twilight films, Pattinson said that he is undeserving of adulation. "I am convinced I need to work at least ten full years to actually earn the status I've apparently being given," he said.
