The PCLinuxOS development team announced (http://pclinuxos.com/?p=605) today (May 5th) the immediate availability of the PCLinuxOS 2010.1 KDE4 edition. With a Linux kernel 2.6.32.12 (with BFS scheduler) on board, the new edition of the PCLinuxOS distribution provides a ready-to-use KDE Software Compilation 4.4.2 environment. Without further introduction, let's take a look at the new features of PCLinuxOS 2010.1 KDE4 Edition:

· Linux kernel 2.6.32.12 (with BFS scheduler);
· Linux kernel 2.6.33.2 (available from the default software repository);
· KDE Software Compilation 4.4.2;
· Support for Realtek RTL8191SE/RTL8192SE Wi-Fi cards;
· Support for Microdia webcams;
· Added VIM text-based editor;
· Added udftools;
· Updated Nvidia video driver to version 195.36.24;
· Updated ATI Radeon video driver to version 10.4;

· Updated many other supported packages!

The PCLinuxOS 2010 operating system was released exactly two weeks ago and it included no more than six editions: GNOME, XFCE, LXDE, KDE3, GNOME ZenMini and Enlightenment E17. If you already have this version installed on your machine, do not download PCLinuxOS 2010.1; instead just update your system with the Synaptic Package Manager application.

About PCLinuxOS

PCLinuxOS was founded six years ago, in October of 2003, by a company called Texstar, located in Houston, Texas. The PCLinuxOS distribution comes in the form of a Live CD, but it can also be permanently installed on a hard disk drive. PCLinuxOS uses the APT package manager and its Synaptic GUI (Graphical User Interface) frontend. At the moment, PCLinuxOS 2010 is available only for 32-bit machines!
