Jonathan Ross has signed up to host an upcoming live BBC show.

The Mirror reports that Ross's job on I'm In A Rock 'N' Roll Band Live! will be his first live role on the BBC since the network decided to pre-record his Radio 2 programme.

The move came after Ross was criticised for a joke about having sex with an 80-year-old woman and faced accusations that he had made a homophobic comment.

The decision to tape the show in advance also took place shortly after Ross had been suspended over the lewd messages he left on Andrew Sachs's answerphone.

In I'm In A Rock 'N' Roll Band Live!, which airs on June 5, Ross will chair a panel of experts as they discuss the best members of music groups. The guests include Lauren Laverne, Mark Radcliffe and Police drummer Stuart Copeland.

Viewers will then be able to vote for their favourite bands, lead singers, guitarists, and drummers.

Ross announced earlier this year that he will leave the BBC in July.
