Strikeforce CEO, Scott Coker has revealed that Strikeforce will award the winner of the upcoming 195 pound Catchwieght fight between Renato “Babalu” Sobral vs. Robbie Lawler a title shot in the future.
The news was revealed during the media conference call. "Babalu" Sobral would be awarded a Light Heavyweight title shot against current champion, "King Mo" Lawal, and Lawler would receive a Middleweight title shot against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, with what would be for the vacant Middleweight championship.
Sobral's camp wasn't to pleased hearing the news, saying they don't like the idea of Sobral having to fight his training partner, "King Mo."
“It’s not a fight we’re interested in pursuing, but if it’s what the fans want to see, we’ll try to work it out. I’ll tell you the fights we want right now, Dan Henderson and Gegard Mousasi.”
The two men are set to meet on June 16 in Los Angeles in the main event of the evening.
