Peter Molyneux's bizarre Kinect child-befriending tech demo "Milo & Kate," which missed E3 2010 but was one of the more talked about demos when Natal was first revealed at E3 2009, will evidently never see a retail release, according to Microsoft's project manager Aaron Greenberg.

Speaking to ABC TV's Good Game (via Kotaku), Greenberg explained the fate of Milo & Kate. "The Milo Project is something that Lionhead Studios in their labs had developed," he said. "Last year we unveiled the Project Natal technology, we showed a bunch of technology demos as part of that. And obviously [Milo] is a technology demo that continues to exist, but right now it's not a game that we're planning to bring to market."

While Greenberg's "right now" qualifier suggests that may still change in the future, it looks like you can forget about buying a virtual friend any time soon. But that doesn't mean it's the last we'll ever see of Milo -- while he's not planned for a retail release, he is planned for a TED conference demonstration on July 13 (with the subject of the demo being "Human Systems"), with Molyneux himself taking the stage as presenter.
