MMAJunkie.com has the official tally for WEC 50 and the event drew a live gate of $275,340 and an attendance of 1,861. MMAJunkie learned of the numbers from Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer.
According to MMAJunkie, of the almost-2,000 fans in attendance some 371 were given complimentary tickets to the event; 280 tickets were not sold.
WEC 50 featured WEC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz's first title defense, a rematch against Joseph Benavidez. Cruz defended his belt over five rounds of non-stop action in which he consistently got the better of Benavidez, earning himself a split decision win over the challenger.
In other action, fast-rising lightweight Anthony Pettis entered his name into the lightweight title picture with an impressive and entertaining third round submission victory over Shane Roller. Scott Jorgensen also cemeneted himself as a legitimate contender at bantamweight by besting the very tough Brad Pickett over three rounds for a unanimous decision win.
