An extortion case stemming from the death of John Travolta's son has been dropped at the actor's request.

A judge in the Bahamas reportedly dropped all charges against Tarino Lightbourne and Pleasant Bridgewater, who were accused of trying to extort millions of dollars from Travolta to keep an "ambulance waiver secret on the day [his son] Jett died", according to TMZ.

New court proceedings against Lightbourne and Bridgewater were scheduled to begin this week after the original case resulted in a mistrial in October 2009.

The two sides began plea bargain talks a few weeks ago, but ultimately charges were dropped entirely.

Bridgewater was a member of the Bahamian senate. However, she was forced to resign her position in 2009 in the wake of the extortion charges.
