Tiny Core 3.1 has been released bringing on-demand icons support for faster booting. It also features better internationalization support and a number of updates and improvements. Some packages have been updated as well.

"The major theme for this release is the introduction of on demand icons. This allows for more options to have even faster boot times with the easy access to less often used application extensions," Robert Shingledecker, Tiny Core's maintainer and creator, announced on the project's homepage (http://www.tinycorelinux.com/)
"Much improved internationalization support and other upgrades and enhancements have been performed through the system," he added.

New in Tiny Core 3.1:

· A new wbar_rm_icon was introduced to support on-demand icons;
· Wbar_eXclude was added to exclude extension icons from wbar;
· Internationalization support added to FLTK GUIs;
· A bigHomeFiles tab was added to the System Stats to make it easier to find large files;
· Multivt boot code for multiple virtual terminals;
· "Calc," a new awk command line expression calculator;
· New background and flwm titlebar colors.

Updated in Tiny Core 3.1:

· Busybox 1.17.1;
· Appsaudit and ondemand script updated for ondemand icons;
· Ondemand moved to tce directory;
· wbar_setup and wbar_update updated for ondemand icons;
· Several updates to Appsbrowser;
· Filetool GUI, tc-restore and exittc updated with support for "new" and "safebackup" options;
· fluxbox, flwm, flwm_topside, hackedbox, icewm, jwm, jwm-snapshot and openbox;
· Several updates to tce-load;
· Several updates to tc-config.

Tiny Core 3.1 comes with several updates and changes needed to support on-demand icons. Another big updates is better support for internationalization, with the inclusion of "setlocale."

All of the window managers supported as well as other packages have been updated to support on-demand icons.
