A Blissful Ass

We've heard this cry wolf before: Warner Bros. will announce their plans for how the DC Universe and its heroes will take up significant stakes at the studio. We heard it and it never happened.

Now, hold on to your butts. It looks like this S is about to get R.

The Hollywood Reporter's HeatVision.com
blog reports that, while speaking at a recent conference, Warner Bros. CEO Barry Meyer teased the WB's forthcoming plans about how DC will play a much bigger role at the film studio.

Next week, expect some Batman 3 news. Plan your wardrobe accordingly.
Warner will make an "organizational announcement next week", according to Heat Vision. Then, in a month, the studio will reveal "a spreadsheet detailing how the various superheroes will be reintroduced to consumers, and on more than just feature film platforms."

Now, the writing's not quite on the wall, but we'd bet dollars to donuts that next month's announcement will come with new details regarding the futures of Chris Nolan's Batman and Superman projects, as well as next steps for the Green Lantern and Flash franchises.

The studio, according to Meyer, has been looking after DC in a "custodial way," but it's now time to get "much more entrepreneurial." The time is now seemingly because WB's massively successful Harry Potter franchise is coming to an end July 2011, and the studio will need to fill that cash-cow void.

Who better than DC's heroes to swoop in to help?
