Steven Spielberg may soon be signing on to direct upcoming movie Robopocalypse after a number of setbacks with other projects.

Spielberg became interested in the script back in March. The director has since suffered delays in his other movies, which include an Abraham Lincoln biopic and the adaptation of Michael Morpurgo's 1982 novel War Horse, making it more likely that he will take on Robopocalypse.

With the news of Spielberg’s interest comes a renewed excitement for the script. "With DreamWorks, everything is potentially a Steven project until it’s not. That’s why everyone’s in a frenzy trying to read it," a source told New York Magazine.

Based on the novel by Daniel H. Wilson set to be published next June, Robopocalypse is a story about the human race's attempts to survive an apocalyptic robot uprising.
