Kanye West believes that his 35-minute film Runaway can form the basis of a future Broadway production.

The film, which showcases songs from West's forthcoming album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, has premiered on MTV US and on the rapper's Youtube channel.

The clip shows Kanye engaging in a doomed romance with lingerie model Selita Ebanks, who plays a phoenix fallen to earth.

"She just believed in my vision and delivered," West said of Ebanks.

There is also a nod to the late Michael Jackson - pioneer of the music video-cum-movie format with 1983's Thriller - in the shape of a bust of his likeness.

West described Jackson as the "greatest, biggest pop-cultural figure of all time".

Turning his attention towards a potential Broadway version of Runaway, West said via Twitter: "I can see it. I can feel it."
