IDG News Service - A judge has denied Oracle's motion to delay proceedings in its intellectual-property lawsuit against SAP, according to a filing made Friday in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

Jury selection will begin as planned on Monday. Oracle had on Thursday asked the start to be delayed until Nov. 4, saying it needed more time to rejigger the presentation of its case after SAP said it would not contest allegations it contributed to copyright infringement by its one-time subsidiary, TomorrowNow.

Judge Phyllis J. Hamilton also shot down a request by SAP that would have barred lawyers for both sides from speaking to the media during the trial on grounds it could prejudice jurors.

Oracle filed suit against SAP in 2007, charging that TomorrowNow workers illegally downloaded software and other materials from its website in order to provide reduced-price support for Oracle applications customers.
