Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes has hinted that Mark and Lexie may reunite in future episodes.
In a recent instalment of the show, Mark (Eric Dane) slept with Callie (Sara Ramirez) as she struggled to cope with her break-up from Arizona (Jessica Capshaw).
However, Rhimes told TV Guide that she does not think Mark's fling with Callie will affect his future with Lexie (Chyler Leigh).
"There's going to be some surprises," she said. "But Mark sleeping with someone else has never really stopped him and Lexie in the past, so I can't imagine why it would now."
Grey's Anatomy continues on Thursdays at 9/8c on ABC.
