The executive producer of CSI: Miami has revealed that a love interest for Horatio Caine could be introduced in a future episode.

Barry O'Brien told TV Guide that the show's production team are planning to explore the personal life of the forensic analyst, played by David Caruso.

"We're definitely thinking that way," he confirmed. "Horatio has had impactful stories with female victims throughout the entire season. You're seeing his sensitivity in that setting and the way he dedicates himself to a woman in jeopardy."

O'Brien continued: "I think the natural next step is to deepen his personal life as well. That's definitely a goal of ours."

Fellow producer Marc Dube recently explained that Delko (Adam Rodriguez) and Calleigh (Emily Procter) will be "taking a little break" from their own romance on the show.

CSI: Miami continues on Sundays on CBS.
