Josh Koscheck, beaten by welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre on the weekend, has a broken orbital bone in his face and will undergo surgery.

A spokeswoman for Koscheck's management said surgery will probably take place next Monday after the swelling goes down.

The 33-year-old from Frisco, Calif., suffered significant damage from St-Pierre's jab right from the get-go. His right eye was virtually closed, prompting a visit from the ringside doctor after the third round.

The spokeswoman said Koscheck "is doing fine."

Koscheck tweeted Sunday that he was in Boston for surgery.

"Then home 2 recover & spend some x with family. I want to say thx's 4 all the love last night!"

He also posted a photo of his swollen, bruised right eye -- still open only a slit and with repaired cuts above and below.

The UFC reportedly drove him to Boston from Montreal so he could avoid air travel because of the facial damage.

St-Pierre won a unanimous 50-45 decision at the Bell Centre in the main event of UFC 124 Saturday
