The Cruiserweight: No holds barred on the wrestling circuit
L. Anne Carrington's debut novel profiles life both in and out of sports entertainment's spotlight.
PITTSBURGH, PA - December 17, 2010 – The Cruiserweight, the debut novel written by Pittsburgh area resident L. Anne Carrington, was released by UK-based independent publisher Night Publishing December 15 as part of books for holiday gift giving
"It's a quirky story that very much fits what we are trying to achieve," said Tim Roux, Night Publishing's managing editor. "We just want good books made available to people who want to read other than formulaic blister-packed literary product."
"I noticed a lot of non-fiction on the market about wrestling, but never recalled any related novels," Ms. Carrington said in a recent interview. "I wanted to do something different from the mainstream romance that would stand out and be remembered."
The book is described as "a punchy, romantic take on the wrestling world, where only some of the physical contact takes place in the ring. Sports journalist Karen Montgomery has been following for years the career of Brett Kerrigan, one of the smallest cruiserweight wrestlers in the business, and can recall in detail every bout he has ever fought, recognizing his outstanding skills as a wrestler and his intuitive flair for entertaining the crowd."
