Matt Cardle has revealed that Robbie Williams gave him some useful advice about dealing with fame.
The pair met when Williams performed as part of Take That during the seventh series of The X Factor.
Cardle told Now: "I had a really good talk with Robbie Williams backstage when Take That were on. He was really helpful.
"He said, 'I've been in the business for 20 years and it still hurts when things come out in the papers about me.'"
Cardle added that he was impressed with fellow contestant Katie Waissel. He said: "I know she got a lot of stick in the press, but it was incredible the way she kept everything together. I have a lot of respect for her."
