A new "employment agreement" Vince McMahon and World Wrestling Entertainment went into effect on January 1st and will run for three years until December 31, 2013. According to the official SEC Filing posted at WWE.com, McMahon's new role in the company is as follows:

"In addition to his duties and responsibilities as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Company, the Executive shall serve as the Company’s creative director, and as a writer, and performer at various times for and in the Company’s events and productions."

The three-year deal gives McMahon generous compensation if he is terminated "other than for cause" or leaves on his own accord with "good reason." It also includes a 1-year no compete clause in the event that his agreement is terminated.

He can leave WWE if he wants? That's baffling... Or can he just leave as a writer if he wishes?

It's effectively just a book balancing procedure from the looks of it. Basically giving himself a written contract outlining what his various roles within the company are so if there was ever an independent audit or something similar then it's all there in black and white.

It does seem somewhat strange to include a non compete clause but it might just be simply because rules is rules as they say. How can the talent complain about having to sign 3 month non compete clauses when the boss has signed one for a year?

Is a bit weird, but like you guys said it's just for legal matters

Vince will probably buy out TNA :P. Would be interesting to see what he would do with TNA if he had it.

Fold it and use their top level talent just below the top WWE level? ;)

Vince can be fired by the board can't he? It would be like any other company, even though he created what WWE is today, the board technically have alot of power.

He was given the no compete clause to prove that he is like the rest of the guys in the company

yes vince can be fired by the board as ceo but as owner and with his new written out job it set a standard for when he hires new people to do some of his "new jobs" he can inforce the same clauses in thier contract. Also it might give him more voting rights on the board because of specific titles outside of ceo
