Rumors have been consistently swirling about the PSP 2 for some time, and now it looks like the device will finally be revealed -- and sooner than most probably expected. MCV reports that according to "trade sources," Sony is planning to unveil the new handheld at a press event in Tokyo on January 27.
VG247 also separately reports that their own source informed them Sony plans to unveil the handheld on January 27, in an event described as a "business overview and strategy meeting" that will be open to "very select press." Exactly how much detail will supposedly be revealed isn't clear, but the handheld is expected to be released some time this year.
Previous rumors about the PSP 2 have suggested features ranging from a touch-pad on the back of the system, to graphics supposedly comparable to early PlayStation 3 games. Looks like we'll find out more in just a couple of weeks.
