DEREK Hough won’t be returning to Dancing with the Stars this spring.
The reigning champion will miss the ABC ballroom dancing competition’s twelfth season so he can make his feature film debut, it was confirmed Monday.
“We wish Derek the best as he takes time off from Dancing with the Stars to pursue his film career and look forward to having him return to the show in the Fall,” Dancing with the Stars executive producer Conrad Green told Access Hollywood, adding that Hough is expected to return later this year.
The three-time Dancing with the Stars champion — who has won the competition with Nicole Scherzinger, Brooke Burke and Jennifer Grey – will reportedly miss Dancing to film Cobu 3-D.
Hough will costar with Asian recording artist BoA in the dance-themed film, which will feature the pair playing dancers from strikingly different backgrounds whose romantic relationship is complicated by an existing rivalry between their brothers’ competing dance clubs.
