PEGGY Rea has died at the age of 89.
The actress — best known for her work on The Dukes of Hazzard — died of congestive heart failure on Saturday at her home in Toluca Lake, Calif.
Rea also acted in several movies, including Grumpy Old Men and In Country, and she played Eunice Hubbell for two and a half years in a touring production of A Streetcar Named Desire that starred Anthony Quinn.
The L.A.-born actress first appeared on I Love Lucy in 1953. While her career didn’t really take off until she was in the 40s, Rea worked well into her 70s.
Jim Beaver, who appeared with Rea in In Country, called her “a dear lady” and “a real sweetheart.”
