Jessica Simpson has unveiled her new boyfriend, singer-songwriter John Mayer, but admits she is taking things slowly.
The singer-turned-actress - who has also been linked to Jared Leto and comedian Dane Cook - recently admitted she had started dating Mayer.
A source told People magazine: "She's tiptoeing back into the dating world.
"It's the first stage. She's never been happier."
Jessica had a very public break-up with her husband, pop star Nick Lachey, who both flaunted their marriage on the MTV reality show Newlyweds.
The marriage broke up earlier this year, and subsequent albums released by the pair featured songs that could be related to their soured relationship.
Meanwhile, Jessica has been told to rest her vocal chords after she lost her voice.
The blonde star - who is the middle of a whirlwind tour to promote her new album A Public Affair - fell silent last Friday.
Her publicist, Rob Shuter, confirmed: "It is true that she has indeed lost her voice.
"She's been ordered to rest. She can talk, she can croak out a few sentences. She sounds a little off but she can't sing."
Despite having to cancel an appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman, Jessica, 26, didn't disappoint fans waiting to meet her at MTV's Total Request Live show, dropping by to sign CD's and introduce her new video.
