Here's the report for last nights Ohio Valley Wrestling television taping from Louisville, Kentucky at the Davis arena.

Dean Hill, Kenny Bolin and, the debuting on OVW television, Gilbert Corsey, were the television announcers. Ron Hed and Brittany DeVore were the ring announcers. Corsey has been doing occasional dark matches for awhile, and did the announcing for at least one of the Saturday Night Special DVD's. Corsey has moved to Louisville, and is now the 4 PM anchor man on Fox 41 in Louisville. Like I said months ago when he first came around, I just hope he doesn't turn out to be the new Corey Maclin of pro wrestling. He looks a little like a younger version of Maclin. Bolin wasn't happy with the addition of Corsey to the booth.

The crowd was between 90 and 100 tonight. They were supposed to move time slots in Louisville starting last Saturday, Feb 12th, from noon to 1 PM, but the show still aired at noon last Saturday, so I'm not sure if the time slot change is going to happen or not.

This taping will be episode number 600 of OVW. They did not mention that at all live tonight. Hey, at 600 episodes, they're running neck and neck with Smackdown. They usually upload the new episodes to their website on Monday's, but have not done that yet this week, so they're still on #598 there as of this writing.

It was announced that Al Snow will begin teaching a class at Davis arena on March 3rd called the "Advanced methodology class". That could be really interesting. It's for wrestlers that already have at least some experience.

Next Tuesday, February 22nd will be the "Homecoming III" show with Nick Dinsmore, Rob Conway and many others, including a legit war hero making his pro wrestling debut by the name of Michael Hayes, of all names. Heh. He's a "free bird" now. The next Saturday Night Special will be on March 5th.

1. CJ Lane beat Epiphany Jones

Dark match. Lane was a face last week when she beat a man, namely Elivs, and she was back heel tonight. They are playing fast and loose with the face and heel roles with several OVW talents right now. Jones, a large Black lady wrestler, is just terrible. I don't see where she's advancing any either. Jones overpowered Lane early, but missed a leg drop, and Lane worked over Jones for a bit. Jones came back with a running, or jogging in her case, Butt bump to the corner. She tried it again, but stopped short of Lane, and Lane rolled her up for the win with her feet on the ropes. Jones just stopping before she got to Lane looked ridiculous. Totally forgettable and pretty bad match. Lane is decent, but the OVW womens division badly needs a shot in the arm. Current OVW womens champion Lady JoJo hasn't been seen here since December.

2. James "Moose" Thomas w/Prince Bolin beat Elvis Pridemore & Mitch Johnson in a handicap match

Also a dark match. Elvis worked as a heel last week, losing to lady wrestler CJ Lane, and here he was a face this week. Heh. Elvis and Johnson worked this like a tag match, but God knows why. Prince Bolin was wearing his black gloves tonight. Thomas heaped much abuse on Mitch Johnson. The finish saw Moose give Elvis a press slam, which hit Johnson and knocked him out of the ring. Thomas then hit Elvis with the "Moose kick" and won it. Basic handicap squash. The finishing sequence looked good.

3. Rudy Switchblade beat Adam Revolver w/Ted McNaler

This was the start of the TV taping. Revolver and McNaler are known as "The Elite" in OVW. Switchblade went right to work, and shockingly landed his Frogsplash finisher on Revolver only 15 seconds into the match. McNaler though, put Revolver's foot on the ropes, causing the ref to eject McNaler. Switchblade went to the floor to confront McNaler, but Revolver clubbed him from behind, and threw him into the ringpost. Switchblade got the advantage back in the ring, but missed a top rope cross body, and Revolver nailed him with a big clothesline, and then went to work on the left arm and hand of Switchblade. Revolver peppered Switchblade with many chops, but Switchblade came back with some of his slick and fancy offense. Switchblade dropped Revolver with a kick, and went back up for his Frogsplash again, but McNaler snuck back out and pushed Switchblade off the top rope. McNaler then crouched down and hid next to the ring apron. McNaler and Revolver had a plan, but it backfired when Switchblade reversed an Irish whip, and McNaler unknowingly tripped his own partner, and Switchblade then rolled Revolver up in a small package for the win. This is an overused finish in OVW, but this match was fairly entertaining.

Hill, Corsey and Bolin filmed some stuff sitting at the desk. It looked like they had to retake something a few times.

The returning Jim Cornette got in the ring. Mike Mondo came out, carrying a ladder, and set the ladder up in the ring, and then climbed up it a few rungs. Mondo spoke while up on the ladder, talking of the still murky OVW heavyweight title situation saying when he loses to "Lowrider" Matt Barela, it's because of "Mr. Media" Cliff Compton, and when he loses to Compton, it's because of Barela, which is basically true. They've had the storyline with these three going since last September, which to me is pretty impressive, though it hasn't all been logical, but a lot of it has. Many matches, and it's still totally unknown who the best man is, because the finishes have all had interference, or other circumstances surrounding them, though Compton is the current champion.

Mondo is the only one who has not held the title during all of this. Mondo said Barela is a dirty rotten Mexican, and that Compton is a plain old fashioned Prick. Heh. Mondo proposed a three way ladder match for the title on March 5th. Matt Barela came out. Barela doesn't like Mondo, but he was down with the idea of a three way ladder match for the title. Cornette said such a match couldn't be made without the approval of the actual champion, Cliff Compton, and that he wasn't here tonight.

But then the music came up, and Compton came out with his entourage of Mo Green, Attorney Christian Mascagni, who is still with the group at least for now, and the Paparazzi guy. Compton said that Mascagni advised him it would detrimental to his career to accept the match. Barela tried to goad Compton into it by asking if Mascagni holds Compton's hand as he crosses the street, and if he wipes Compton's stinky smelly ass after he leaves the toilet. Barela said he thinks Mascagni is actually Compton's boyfriend. Cornette said Mascagni is a crooked Lawyer, and talked about him wearing a neck brace, and carrying a Tennis racket to mock Cornette.

Mascagni tried to say Compton will take the match with the stipulation that after this, Mondo and Barela will never get another title shot. Cornette picked on Mascagni for not explaining it clearly, and Corny then explained it himself. Mascagni is a legit second generation Attorney of note in Louisville, and is a sponsor of OVW, so he's on the show as a character now, with hit and miss results. He clearly wants to do well, and does at times, but he's very inexperienced as a manager. He can learn from the best though from Cornette for sure. Mascagni added not only would it be Mondo and Barela's last shot at the title, but that he and Mo Green could not be banned from ringside during it. Mascagni called Cornette a SOB.

Mondo and Barela accepted the stipulations, but Cliff Compton was furious with Mascagni, saying he can't make matches like this for him, teasing dissension between those two. But it will happen Match 5th at the Saturday Night Special, three way ladder match for the OVW title, with this being the last shot Mondo and Barela will get. It wasn't specified how long the "last title shot" stip would be in effect for. Maybe just for Compton's reign, if it goes on past March 5th.

4. Mike Mondo beat Alex Silva

Mondo set the ladder up outside of the ring. Slow paced match early here, felt like it would go awhile, and it did. Silva scored with a power slam, followed by some big chops. Mondo went outside to regroup. Silva went after him, but while running on the apron, Mondo tripped him up, and Silva landed chest first on the apron. Wicked looking spot. Mondo took control, but missed a top rope elbow. Silva landed a kick to the face, and followed it up with some stiff forearms to Mondo's head, and then both guys were giving each other stiff forearms to the head at the same time in stereo. Great spot.

Silva knocked Mondo on his rear end with a 360 into a forearm to the head. Silva followed with some slick backbreakers and neckbreakers. Mondo though greeted Silva with a spear coming off the ropes, and won the match with the "Gut check" finisher. Real nice TV match. Postmatch saw Mondo bring the ladder in the ring and give Silva an elbow drop from several rungs up the ladder. Silva had to be helped to the back.

5. Big Rocko Bellagio w/Christian Mascagni beat Benjamin Bray

This was Bellagio's OVW TV debut. He made his dark match debut here last week. He's been a student here for awhile now. Like last week, Bellagio and Mascagni came out to slow, old Mafia like classical music. Mascagni took the mic and said Bellagio was his cousin from Sicily, and was also part of "The Family". Mascagni said Bellagio would hurt anyone who put his hands on him, and even threatened Dean Hill. Mascagni told Bray they had no problem with him, and asked Rocko and Bray to shake hands. They did, but Bellagio then gave Bray a Powerbomb, and Mascagni then said ring the bell and start the match.

Bellagio put his foot on Bray's chest, and the ref counted three. Bellagio never removed his white warm up outfit. This was both a way to introduce a new character here, and to hide a totally inexperienced guy like Bellagio. I suspect he'll be beating people quickly for the next little bit.

6. Ryan Nemeth & Paredyse beat Randy Terrez & Mohammad Ali Vaez w/Mr. B to retain the OVW Southern tag team titles

This was the TV main event. Vaez is the current OVW TV champion. Paredyse again came out with his "Our love" scrapbook, for he and Nemeth's tag titles. Nemeth looked really slicked up with baby oil. Paredyse was again patting the chiseled Nemeth on the ass and stuff, and Nemeth again wasn't totally down with that, but was taking it good naturedly. He'd rather just shake hands though. Entertaining and funny stuff. Nemeth has the look, body, and pedigree to go a long ways, and he's looked better in the ring in recent weeks, but he struggled greatly tonight, especially early on.

Several badly botched spots involving Nemeth, and he was big time out of position several times too. Basically, he looked as lost as last years Easter egg out there. Everyone was talking to him a lot in the ring trying to get him in the same book, let alone on the same page, but it wasn't pretty. The crowd was fairly hot for this match though, which covered some of the sloppiness, but it was really bad in spots. Nemeth needs tons of work on any kind of a double team tag spot. He's clueless on them at this point. Paredyse hit a flying butt bump. Nemeth was beat on some, but came back with a double clothesline on Vaez and Terrez, which was the first thing Nemeth did all match that looked even halfway decent. Paredyse patted Vaez on the butt while he was on the apron.

Nemeth low bridged, allowing Paredyse to hit a dive thru the second rope to the outside on Vaez. Meanwhile in the ring, Terrez took a 360 bump off a Nemeth clothesline. Vaez and Terrez regained control, and Nemeth took the heat. Nemeth came back though with an Olympic slam on Vaez, and then Terrez missed an attempt at a top rope dropkick. Nemeth had it back together at this point of the match.

Paredyse came in with his wind up his arm before delivering the blows punches. Paredyse with a Bronco buster on Vaez. He tried to kiss Terrez, but instead gave him an inverted face plant, which was preceded by several hip swivels. Paredyse is an entertainer for sure. Vaez and Nemeth brawled to the outside, leaving Terrez and Paredyse in the ring. Paredyse gave Terrez a big thumb to the anus, or somewhere down there in the Taintish nether regions, and won the match. Hilarious finish. Fun match in a way, despite all of Nemeth's blatant greenness early.

The post match saw Fighting Spirit(Raphael Constantine & Christopher Silvo) run in and attack Nemeth and Paredyse. The geek squad ran out to help, but Vaez, Terrez and Mr. B held them at bay for a long time while Fighting Spirit destroyed Nemeth and Paredyse. Silvio removed the padding from a second turnbuckle, leaving just exposed metal, and Constantine held the face of Paredyse against it while Silvio gave Paredyse a running knee to the back, apparently to hopefully take away Paredyse' kisser for awhile. Finally "Lowrider" Matt Barla made the save with a chair, and actually whacked Silvio in the side of the face with the chair. Paredyse and Nemeth slowly helped each other out of the ring and to the back. Paredyse was holding his hand over his injured mouth.

7. Fighting Spirit beat Raul Lamotta & Jimbo Onno

Dark match. Lamotta and Onno turned face here a few weeks ago with no explanation. I didn't like Lamotta & Onno as a heel team, and now I don't like them as a face team either. Go figure. Early on Onno ran over and cushioned Lamotta's blow to the corner as he was whipped across the ring. Later in the match the heels tried the same spot, but it backfired on them. This match really wasn't clicking at all, and the guys were talking a lot in the ring trying to get it on track. Lamotta and Onno were mostly in command, but Fighting Spirit finally got the better of Onoo a bit, working on his arm, and Constantine giving him a headbutt to the jaw.

Silvio hit a running kick to Onno's head, followed by a Fighting Spirit double superkick on Onno. All four guys ended up brawling, but Silvio knocked Lamotta off the apron to the floor. In the ring, Onno held Constantine up in a choke, ala Hulk Hogan from the 80's, but Silvio ran in and clipped the back of Onoo's knee, allowing Constantine to pin Onno. Lousy match
