RAW Results - 9/4/06
Atlanta, Georgia

WWE RAW Opener:

RAW opened up with a video package looking at the recent history between Edge and John Cena over the WWE Championship which led to a match being made for Unforgiven which will be Tables, Ladders and Chairs, and if Cena loses, then he will leave RAW for Smackdown.

In the arena:

Edge is in the ring and has Tables, Ladders and Chairs with him. Edge climbed atop the ladder and took a seat. Edge said that the “John Cena gets out of my life forever countdown” is on, because it’s only two more shows before he beats Cena at Unforgiven and sends him packing to Smackdown on the new CW Network. It’s appropriate that John will be going to CW because it stands for his chances at Unforgiven…Can’t Win. Edge said Unforgiven is taking place in his hometown, the beautiful Toronto, Canada, which is now 94% SARS free. He said Cena can’t win because Edge always wins this match, it’s going to be Tables, Ladders and Chairs…Oh My. A TLC Match doesn’t cater to Cena’s strengths, which is throwing his fists like a retarded gorilla. A TLC Match involves speed and smarts. Edge said he needs to dumb it down for the people, and we go to a video package of Edge’s TLC history, much like a movie preview. Edge said Cena is out of his element, so get ready to start fighting men in dresses and Michael Cole can resume his giant man crush, because in two weeks time, he will be off Edge’s show. This story ends at Unforgiven, and it will end with Edge’s hand held high who is quickly becoming the greatest WWE Champion of all time. Cena hit the ring and Edge dived at him but Cena caught him and nailed an FU through the table. Cena then threw the ladder on top of Edge and John Cena has left the WWE Champion laying.

Backstage:

Jeff Hardy is shown painting a wall backstage. Maria comes up and Jeff says he’s watching Nitro’s press conference from last week. Maria said it looks like he’s watching paint dry, and Jeff said exactly. Maria looked confused.

Hardy nailed a facebuster on Nitro and then headed up top and came off with the Swanton on the Intercontinental Champion. Melina has saved the title for Johnny Nitro here tonight.

This Week In Wrestling History:

We go back to September 4th 1995 when sports entertainment changed forever with the debut edition of WCW Monday Nitro on TNT, opposite Monday Night RAW on USA. We saw Ric Flair beat Sting, Brian Pillman beat Jushin Liger, Hulk Hogan beat Bubba Rogers and Lex Luger made a shocking deflection from WWE to WCW. Over the next six years, both companies would battle over ratings, but it was this show that fired the first shot in the Monday Night Wars.

Backstage:

Trish Stratus is making her way towards the arena, and Lita stops her. Trish said she was about to call out Lita. Trish said she was going to challenge Lita to one more match, one last time, for the Women’s Championship. Lita said it’s on, at Unforgiven. Lita said she couldn’t think of a better way to say goodbye then to beat her. Trish said to bring the belt and everything she’s got, because as a good friend of hers used to say…just bring it, bitch. Lita slapped Trish and then a brawl breaks out. Carlito is trying to break it up and then Randy Orton attacks him from behind. Carlito drove Orton into a shutter and then officials broke it up.

The Marine:

We take another exclusive look at the Marine, starring John Cena.

Backstage:

Lita is throwing a fit backstage and Coach is trying to calm her down. Shane comes out and Lita explains everything to him. Shane makes a tag team match with Trish and Carlito against Lita and Randy Orton. Lita said she needs to be with Edge. Shane said then Edge will team with her and Orton against Carlito, Trish and John Cena! Coach said that Vince has passed on all his wisdom to Shane and it’s nice to see. Shane didn’t look impressed with Coach’s ass kissing.

Referee: Chad Patton
Chris Masters vs. Super Crazy

Chris Masters is in the ring and said since his comeback last week was interrupted, he’s come out here to issue an open challenge, because there is no one back there who can defeat the Masterpiece…out comes Super Crazy!

The start:

The two locked up and Masters powered Crazy down. The announcers alluded to the fact that Crazy’s contract with Smackdown ran out and he became a free agent. Masters again overpowered Crazy, and then nailed him with a slam. Masters hit some right hands but Crazy came back with a dropkick. Masters rallied with a boot to the face, and then tossed Crazy shoulder first into the ring post. Masters covered for a two count.

Mid-match notes:

Masters locked in an arm bar on Crazy but Crazy fought out with shots to the gut. Masters came back with a slam but then missed a charge in the corner, and then ate Crazy’s boot. Crazy sent Masters to the outside and then came over the top to the floor with a tope on Masters. Back in the ring and Crazy hit a sunset flip from the top for a near fall.

Winner - Super Crazy

Backstage:

Maria is still watching the paint dry backstage, with a huge grin on her face.

In the arena:

There’s no chance as Mr. McMahon and Shane McMahon made their way to the ring, looking mighty pleased with themselves. Security is surrounding the ring. The music of the Big Show then hit as he made his way down as the ECW Heavyweight Champion. Show hugged the McMahon’s and then Shane got on the mic. Shane said that he told DX that their sophomoric pranks would not be tolerated, and that was an understatement. Shane said that Michaels and Triple H were left bloody and battered at their feet, courtesy of Vincent Kennedy McMahon and yours truly. Shane said that is just a taste of what will happen at Hell in a Cell, and you don’t ever mess with the McMahon’s. Shane said that DX have a date with the ECW Champion tomorrow night. Show took the mic and said that tomorrow night we have a Handicap Match with DX against the Big Show, and he wants to get one thing straight right now…those are the two that will end up Handicap when he’s finished with them, and you’ll have to cart them to Unforgiven for Hell in a Cell, and they will find out what the Big Show and the McMahon’s can do together. Vince took the mic and said there is something missing tonight. Vince said the fans are not laughing at the McMahon’s, and why is that? Maybe it has something to do with what they did to DX last week. McMahon said they all laughed in the past. They all laughed when DX defaced his aircraft. They all laughed when DX vandalized his headquarters. They all laughed when DX yanked the axel out of his limo, but they are not laughing now. There is an old expression…he who laughs last, laughs loudest. The McMahon’s are laughing, not only at DX but at each and every one of us. They left DX in a bloody quivering mess, which is nothing compared to what they will leave them at Hell in a Cell. It will be Hell in a Cell when DX is dismembered and defeated. Vince said the McMahon’s are teaming with the largest and most dominate athlete in sports entertainment…The Big Show. What chance would DX have against this three some…the music of DX then hit as Michaels and Triple H came out to the stage. Michaels has a chair and Triple H a sledgehammer. Triple H has a mic and said it’s been a long time since someone has made them taste their own blood. So for that Vince, we’ve got two words for ya…thank you. Triple H said thank you for reminding them just who the hell they are. Michaels and Triple H went towards the ring and security tried to stop them and reason with them, but Michaels nailed him with a chair. DX hit the ring and the McMahon’s and the Big Show scampered away. DX took out the security in the ring and then stared down the McMahon’s on the stage. Michaels and Triple H hit Sweet Chin Music and then the Pedigree on the security, and the McMahon’s don’t want any part of DX here tonight.

Number One Contender Match
Triple Threat Match
Referee: Marty Rubalcaba
The Highlanders vs. Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch vs.
Viscera and Charlie Haas

The music of the Highlanders hit in the arena as they made their way to the ring, and the winners of this triple threat tag team match will get a title shot at Unforgiven. Haas hit a drop toe hold and then Viscera hit a leg drop to the back of the head and Haas covered for a near fall when Cade broke it up. Haas worked over Murdoch and Viscera sent Cade into Murdoch. Viscera stacked Cade and Murdoch in the corner, and Haas whipped Viscera into them. Murdoch and Haas battled in the ring and then Robbie came out of nowhere with a sunset flip on Haas for the win.

Winners - The Highlanders

The Aftermath:

The Highlanders celebrated their win as the Sprit Squad stared them down, and the Highlanders signalled the belts will be theirs at Unforgiven.

Backstage:

Carlito is backstage and Trish comes in and asks if he’s ready to do this. Carlito said he is sick of Orton and he is sick of him bragging. Carlito said all Orton has done since coming back to RAW is pose. Carlito said something in Spanish, and said that Orton is a fraud. Carlito is the king of disrespecting people, and tonight he will respectfully spit in his face.

In the arena:

Maria is in the ring for the kiss cam, which is usually on WWE.com. The music of Ric Flair then hit as he made his way down to the ring. Flair checked Maria out, and he said it’s good to be back in Atlanta. He said the only thing that could make this moment better would be a kiss from Maria…on the lips of the Nature Boy. Flair twirled Maria around and then made out with her. Flair then acted like he was about to faint, and did the Flair flop. Flair said that was better. He said even though at SummerSlam he made Mick Foley said he quits, what happened here a couple weeks about to Foley should…Armando Alejandro Estrada then interrupted Flair. Armando said news flash, no body wants to hear what Flair has to say, she he’ll keep it real simple. Flair’s always talking about “to be the man, you’ve got to beat the man”, well since his monster already beat Flair, then he officially wants Flair to declare Umaga the man. Armando said it’s like passing the torch. Flair said no. Armando said Flair is a Looney Tunes crazy old man and to be prepared to be the next victim of the undefeated Samoan Bulldozer…Umaga! Umaga made his way down to the ring and then the music of Kane hit out of nowhere. Kane made his way down to the ring and got into it with Umaga. Kane nailed Umaga with uppercuts and right hands. Kane then grabbed Armando by the throat, and then sent Umaga to the floor with a boot to the face. Kane has cleared the ring of Umaga, and the Big Red Machine means business.

Cryme Tyme:

We get a parental advisory screen, and it’s Cryme Tyme. Outside of a local shop, today Cryme Tyme plan to work on their speed. They hit the store and we go to CCTV footage of Cryme Tyme attacking the clerk. One of them mouths off at the camera giving shout outs. Shad tells JTG they need to bounce, and then hang outside the store, and plan to rob another place. Funny stuff.

In the arena:

Teddy Long makes his way into a skybox. Maria is back watching the paint, for those keeping score.

Unforgiven:

Umaga will face Kane, Jeff Hardy will challenge Johnny Nitro for the Intercontinental Title, The Highlanders challenge the Spirit Squad for the Tag Titles, Edge faces John Cena for the WWE Title in a TLC Match, Lita defends the Women’s Title against Trish Stratus and DX face Big Show and the McMahon’s in a Hell in a Cell Match.

Backstage:

Big Show is backstage with the McMahon’s. Show said to look in his eyes and he knows he can destroy DX tomorrow night. McMahon said there’s one thing he’s never done is main event a match in Madison Square Garden, and this Monday Night on RAW live from MSG it will be Vince McMahon one on one with Triple H! Show said to make an example out of him.
