Mandriva, through Eugeni Dodonov, announced last evening, March 16th, the immediate availability for testing of the first Beta version of the upcoming Mandriva 2011 Linux operating system.

Mandriva 2011 Beta 1 is powered by Linux kernel 2.6.37.2, it features updates to the desktop theme, a development version of NetworkManager, integration of TexLive 2010, KDE Software Compilation 4.6.1, lots of updates and many bug fixes.

"Besides packages updates, it also features plasma-applet-stackfolder application, developed by ROSA Labs, which will make part of new Mandriva 2011 UI.
