He stole the mountain of orange veg meant for his whole troop after a keeper tossed it inside their enclosure at Neuwied Zoo, Germany.
The primate looked like he had his hands full as grabbed fistfuls of the carrots - so much so that he started to use his feet as well - and dashed off into a corner to eat them by himself.
Photographer Susi Fischer, 45, captured his sneaky getaway on a trip to the zoo in October.
'It was just feeding time like any other day - only he must have been more hungry than usual,' she said.
'He scooped up the lot and ran off with them all for himself. The others didn't seem too annoyed, or at least they didn't show it as he was the alpha male.
'It was really funny so I started snapping away with my camera. I don't think I'll ever see something this funny again.'
Last month, a cheeky baby gorilla turned the tables on her photographer after deciding to jump behind the lens for a memorable snap.
