PRELIMINARY CARD
Steven Siler vs. Darren Elkins
Welcome to our live coverage of tonight's card. We begin in the featherweight division with Steven Siler (21-9) squaring off with Darren Elkins (14-2). Marc-Andre Cote will be the referee for this first bout.
Round 1: Missed some of the early action due to the Facebook player, but we'll pick things up here late in the first. Elkins on top, landing some solid strikes. Elkins grinding on Siler, who is attempting a triangle as we go unde ra minute. Elkins grabs the neck, pulling tight, looking for a guillotine, but Siler is able to avoid it for now. Elkins still clinching it in, but unable to secure the choke.
Round 2: Elkins grabs his third takedown of the match right off the bat. Siler connects with an up-kick, and forces Elkins to go to the ground and land some nice strikes. Elkins quickly moves to the back, secures a choke and a body-triangle on Siler as we approach the three-minute mark. Siler rolling, Elkins mounted still on his back and Siler to his knees. Elkins still has the body-lock cinched in and some blood begins pouring out of the nose of Siler. Elkins in complete control, but Siler gives a thumbs-up to the ref as Elkins squeezes the rear-naked. Siler fighting off the choke with great defense, but he has done no damage with his own offense this round. Siler will survive this round, but is behind on the scorecards.
Round 3: Great cornering for Siler, as they tell him he needs the KO to win this fight. Elkins with 8-plus minutes of ground control through two rounds. Elkins catches Siler coming in with a solid right, as Siler answers with a jab. Combo by Elkins lands, causing Siler to back up. Siler steps in and catches a straight jab. Knee attempt by Siler, but it allows Elkins to grab a leg and get his fourth successful takedown in as many attempts. Siler gets to his feet as we approach the three-minute mark. Siler with a knee to the chin of Elkins as they break. Another solid combo lands by Elkins, as does an overhand right. A fifth takedown from Elkins, and he goes into control on the ground. Complete performance by Elkins so far. Elkins passes guard, as Siler goes for a triangle choke. Siler fires up, but Elkins gets a sixth takedown as we go under a minute.

Ivan Menjivar vs. Azamat Gashimov
To the bantamweight division for our next fight, as Ivan Menjivar (24-9) takes on Azamat Gashimov (7-1). Philippe Chartier will be the referee.
Round 1: Menjivar comes right in, and Gashimov is there to answer. Menjivar misses and Gashimov counters, and drops for the takedown. Gashimov gets it, and into guard. Gashimov looking to impose his will, grabbing an arm and moving into a head-triangle but Gashimov shakes it off. Menjivar with an up-kick and Gashimov answers with a right. Nice left lands by Gashimov as he remains on top of Menjivar. With one simple mistake, Menjivar grabs an arm, Gashimov tries to roll/power out of it and is unable to, as Menjivar gets the armbar submission.

Matt Riddle vs. John Maguire
Our next bout is in the welterweight division, as Matt Riddle (6-3) takes on John Maguire (18-4). This bout was originally set for Stephen Thompson vs. Besam Yousef, but both fighters were forced out with injuries. The referee will be Yves Lavigne.
Round 1: A pair of southpaws square off, as Riddle has a seven-inch reach advantage over Maguire. Riddle catches Maguire with a right. Kick to the body by Riddle, who looks much more precise with his striking than Maguire. The Brit comes back with a nice jab, as he still is trying to figure out the distance from Riddle. Maguire counters with a right after a pair of strikes by Riddle. Maguire catches the leg-kick attempt and Riddle spins away. Overhand left fails to connect courtesy of Maguire. Riddle lands a left-hook, follows up with an inside-leg kick but is denied another kick, as Maguire flips him to the canvas. Joe Rogan with a Jet Li-reference after Riddle keeps his balance and spins away. Maguire swarms the second Riddle spinning-attempt, and Riddle turns him towards the cage. Jab lands by Maguire as we go under a minute.
Round 2: Brit James McSweeney in Riddle's corner, which seems weird since Maguire is the Brit. Just a little tidbit of randomness. Maguire lands a nice kick to start the action in this round. Riddle controls Maguire up against the fence, but is unable to do much. Maguire landing some nice, precise strikes, and now doing even more with some punch behind it. Riddle answers, pushing Maguire back and knocking him down. Pair of body shots by Riddle to the grounded Maguire, but Riddle is not jumping right in. Riddle drops down, but is unable to advance and stands back up. No desire by Riddle to have a ground match, and the ref stands them back up. Maguire drops for a single-leg takedown, Riddle fights it off and bullies Maguire up against the fence. A minute to go in the round, and Riddle hits a quick right jab. Right hook lands by Maguire, who grabs a hold of Riddle's neck and is looking for a guillotine as 20 seconds remain in the round. Riddle spins out from the choke, and Riddle lands a combo and a knee to the body, followed by an elbow to the head.
Round 3: Maguire's corner tells him between rounds they have no idea how the scoring went. Maguire with a nice strike, as Riddle is up 58-50 in total strikes landed so far. Riddle with a nice combo to answer. Riddle kicks the lead-leg out of Maguire, and snaps off a nice right jab. Riddle's jab has been more effective so far in this bout, and has kept Maguire at bay. Maguire not going away, though, strikes back. Riddle defends a takedown attempt by Maguire, his third such takedown defense. Riddle lands a knee to the body, which causes Maguire to flinch. Might have been to the groin area of Maguire, the knee, but no stoppage in action. Riddle wants to just stand and trade, but Maguire is hesitant to do so and we'll head to the scorecards.

Antonio Carvalho vs. Rodrigo Damm
We being the FX-televised four-fight prelim portion of the night at featherweight, with Canada's own Antonio Carvalho (14-5) facing Rodrigo Damm (10-5). The referee will be Dan Miragliotta.
Round 1: UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is part of Damm's corner. That "Damm" corner:) Okay, on to the action. Two right lefts by Damm, as he tries to figure out the range. Solid kick to the body by Damm. Carvalho shows his speed with a strike-kick combo. Both have thrown quite a few strikes and kicks, but little has landed. Carvalho with a kick that has caused a welt to form on Damm's left thigh. Quick jab by Damm. Another kick by Carvalho to the thigh of Damm. Carvalho throws a head-kick that misses. Perfectly-executed kick, though, and will likely cause Damm to think about it later in the fight. Pair of left jabs by Damm, and a spinning kick to the midsection of Carvalho. Damm catches Carvalho coming in with a left to the face.
Round 2: Silva was applying ice to the damaged thigh of Damm between rounds, and giving him instructions. Not a bad man to have in your corner. Right back to the kicks for Carvalho to start the round. Front-kick by Damm backs Carvalho up against the fence. Carvalho with another kick to the lead leg that goes unchecked by Damm. Another front-kick to the body connects, and Damm gets Carvalho to the ground. Damm hops over the body of Carvalho and to his back, but Carvalho is able to get to his feet. Much slower pace to this round, as both men seem concerned with the skills of the other. Damm with a nice kick to the leg of Carvalho as we go under a minute in the round.
Round 3: Will be interesting to see how this one is scored if it goes the distance. Neither fighter trying to engage the other. Carvalho's mouthpiece falls out and we have a brief stoppage to clean it before re-insertion. Damm looking like a man possessed, teeing off with power punches to the head of Carvalho. Damm landing at will now, and Carvalho counters with a quick right. Damm fluid with his strikes and kicks, landing multiple shots upon entering Carvalho's reach. Ninety seconds left, and Carvalho counters a left with a head-kick. Overhand-left by Carvalho, and a head-kick, as well. Damm with a flurry as we go under 20 seconds.

Sam Stout vs. John Makdessi
A pair of Canadians do battle in the lightweight division next, as Sam Stout (18-7-1) tangles with John Makdessi (9-2). Marc-Andre Cote will be the third man inside the Octagon.
Round 1: Stout tossing some big rights at Makdessi to start, as Makdessi answers with a side-kick to the body. Stout throws his own kick, misses with a right and nearly face-plants for his efforts. Body shot by Stout connects, as Makdessi answers with a jab. Side-kick again by Makdessi to the body of Stout. Stiff left lands by Stout to the chin. Makdessi continues to shift his style, and lands a nice left. Stout keeps trying to come charging in, but Makdessi has been able to avoid any serious damage. Another huge overhand right misses by Stout, who has thrown several of them - all missing by a mile. Stiff left jab lands by Makdessi, who has definitely been the more efficient striker. Counter by Makdessi courtesy of the jab.
Round 2: More of the same from both fighters early in the round, as Makdessi continues to utilize the jab and counter Stout's aggression. Stout comes in this time, grabs a leg and briefly takes Makdessi down to the mat. Both are back up, and Makdessi lands a quick left. Stout with a jab of his own. More counter-striking from Makdessi. Front-kick thrown, and missed, by Makdessi. Body shot by Stout as the round ends.
Round 3: Stout seems more aggressive in the early stages of the final round, likely feeling he is down on the scorecards. Stout has eaten a lot of punches, but is still coming in and throwing his own at Makdessi. Several 1-2 combos from Stout, but he has been unable to land anything with much force behind it. Makdessi connects with a kick to the chin of Stout, who continues to walk forward, eating another stiff jab. Two minutes left, and Makdessi holds a plus-30 advantage in strikes landed. Solid kick thrown by Stout, but just a glancing blow. Stout lands a flurry of strikes, but still unable to really hurt Makdessi. Another low blow by Makdessi, but Stout shakes it off and wants to continue. Failed takedown attempt by Stout and the round comes to an end.

Cyrille Diabate vs. Chad Griggs
Our first, and only, light heavyweight battle of the night is next, as Cyrille Diabate (19-8-3) faces Chad Griggs (11-2). The referee will be Philippe Chartier.
Round 1: Griggs is just bouncing all around the Octagon, and Diabate lands with a knee and a big left and floors Griggs. Diabate pounces and Griggs is able to cover up and tie Diabate up for a brief moment. Diabate is trying to move into side-control, but Griggs slips out, only to wind up on his back again. That initial shot from Diabate looked to knock Griggs out, but he was able to recover. Blood pouring from face of Griggs as Diabate continues to attack. Pair of knees to the face of Griggs, who had knee on the ground but the ref did nothing. Griggs looked at him to say something, and instead took matters into his own hands and slammed Diabate to the mat. However, Diabate remained in control, landed another knee and cinched in a rear-naked choke for the quick submission.

Patrick Cote vs. Alessio Sakara
Our final prelim match of the night is next, as middleweights Patrick Cote (18-8) and Alessio Sakara (19-9) square off. Dan Miragliotta will serve as the referee.
Round 1: Pro-Cote crowd as you would expect for the Canadian. Sakara with a nice right, and a stiff left jab. Cote unloading with several rights and lefts, including a knee to the chin of Sakara, who is covering up. Sakara with an elbow that drops Cote, who is now on the ground looking to cover up. Sakara with several hammerfists to a grounded Cote, and this one is over, as the referee steps in. A pair of elbows, followed by a left hook, caused Cote to lose his balance early, and Sakara followed up with the punches to the side - and some to the back - of the head. It appears that the ref is talking to an official now, and we could have a disqualification.

MAIN CARD
Mark Hominick vs. Pablo Garza
We open up the main card with featherweights Mark Hominick (20-11) and Pablo Garza (11-3). Hominick is a former contender in the division, but has lost his last three. Garza enters on a two-fight losing skid himself. The referee will be Marc-Andre Cote.
Round 1: Hominick comes right out at Garza, and blocks a pair of solid head-kick attempts by the taller "Scarecrow." Hominick switching levels, lands a nice body shot. Another head-kick by Garza is blocked, as Garza goes for an uppercut that misses. Straight jab to the chest by Hominick, and he follows up with a combo. However, Garza comes back and lands some nice kicks and knees of his own. Excellent striking by both men right now as they keep searching for a knockout blow. Garza goes for a kick that connects to the body, and counters a strike by Hominick with a knee. Straight right jab lands by Hominick, and he follows up with another. Garza attempts a takedown, but Hominick reverses it and hip tosses Garza to the ground. Garza working for an armbar, Hominick trying to pull out, does, and winds up on top. Body and head shots by Hominick as he tries to avoid another submission attempt by Garza. Garza kicks off and gets up, going right at Hominick. The Canadian rocks Garza, pounces with some nice ground strikes, but Garza gets up and is coming after a wobbled Hominick now who has blood pouring from his left eye. Massive cut under the eye of Hominick, Garza lands a left and a right, but survives the round.
Round 2: Huge gash under the left eye of Hominick, who was given his mouthpiece after the round by the referee. Stiff body shot lands by Hominick. Wicked leg kick courtesy of Garza to the lead leg of Hominick. Garza briefly takes the back of Hominick, but winds up in guard instead. Garza still inside the guard, staying busy and staying in control. Repeated elbows to the face of Hominick by Garza, and he does the same again, peppering Hominick's face. Garza's elbow shots have opened a cut under the right eye of Hominick, who attempts a submission but is unable to get it, or get out, from Garza. More elbows to the face and Hominick's bleeding profusely now and looks to have swelling shutting both eyes. Garza unloading and in complete control.
Round 3: Big kicks by Garza to start the final five minutes. Hominick finding his range despite the nasty swelling under both eyes. Garza powers in, though, and gets the takedown without any trouble. Garza has landed 140 strikes to 62 by Hominick with three-plus minutes to go, with many of them in the closed guard via Garza elbows. More elbows from Garza, as Hominick attempts a submission to no avail. Back to controlling the action is Garza, who owns six minutes and counting in terms of ground control. Hominick pushes off and gets up, but Garza back in control and working towards side control. Hominick with an armbar, but he's unable to lock it in.

Mark Bocek vs. Rafael dos Anjos
We enter the lightweight ranks with another Canadian, Mark Bocek (11-4) taking on Brazilian Rafael dos Anjos (17-6). Yves Lavigne will be the third man inside the Octagon.
Round 1: Big knee by Bocek connects in the early stages. So far, dos Anjos has been using his kicks, while Bocek seems like he wants to take this fight to the ground. Bocek drops down for a takedown but dos Anjos fights it off. Knees by dos Anjos connect to the body of Bocek. Flying knee attempt by dos Anjos fails to connect. A minute to go in this opening round and either fighter could take it with a solid finish. Kick connects by dos Anjos, but Bocek grabs the leg and goes for a takedown. Bocek has dos Anjos pinned against the fence, working a single-leg, but is unable to get it. Nice kick to the face by dos Anjos.
Round 2: Bocek catches dos Anjos with an accidental low blow that nearly floors the Brazilian. Upon replay, a straight kick below the belt landed, but dos Anjos is ready to go just seconds later. Stiff jab lands by dos Anjos, who continues moving and bouncing around the cage. Bocek fires in for the takedown, and the two wind up in what looks like a stalemate situation. However, dos Anjos is able to reverse things and get the takedown himself, with Bocek positioned awkwardly against the fence. Almost an armbar attempt by dos Anjos, but Bocek is able to avoid it. Blood coming from the nose of Bocek as dos Anjos gives up on the ground and they stand. Two minutes left, and Bocek looks winded, while dos Anjos continues to bounce around. The Brazilian goes to work on the mat, takes the back of Bocek and unloads with a big right, followed by several more uncontested blows. Excellent showing by dos Anjos, who is looking to secure the back of Bocek. A fourth takedown for dos Anjos, who lands a huge elbow as the round comes to an end.
Round 3: After 10 minutes of intense action, dos Anjos looks like he maybe just went out for a short jog, showing no signs of fatigue at all. Dos Anjos has doubled-up Bocek in terms of significant strikes. Huge takedown by dos Anjos, who is looking for a kimura with three minutes to go. Bocek gets up and goes for a kimura of his own, but dos Anjos quickly slips out. Swelling forming around left eye of Bocek, who is still coming after dos Anjos. Nice kick to the body by dos Anjos, who fires off a front-kick that lands, as well. Spinning kick by dos Anjos, who looks like he is just having fun inside the Octagon.

Francis Carmont vs. Tom Lawlor
Middleweights hit the Octagon, as Francis Carmont (19-7) takes on Tom Lawlor (8-4). For those that missed it, Lawlor performed a spot-on "Shockmaster" entrance during the weigh-ins on Friday, complete with mask and fall. The referee will be Philippe Chartier.
Round 1: Lawlor goes right into the huge body of Carmont, pushing him against the fence. Lawlor doing his best to keep Carmont against the fence here, not wanting to catch any of his strikes. Ref steps in and separates them, and Carmont stuffs a takedown attempt. Another takedown attempt by Lawlor, but Carmont moves for a kimura, but is unable to get it. Back to the center they go, and Carmont has his right locked and loaded. Lawlor slides in and goes low, landing a nice uppercut. Carmont goes for a takedown, but Lawlor jumps in and locks in a choke, going for the submission. Lawlor cranking, but Carmont gets out.
Round 2: Carmont lands a nice kick to start the action, while Lawlor wildly misses a combo. Still, that huge right is locked by Carmont, who unloads but misses. Big knee to the face of Lawlor, who regroups himself. Left connects by Carmont as they separate. Lawlor with a counter right. Lawlor gets the takedown with two minutes to go, but Carmont gets to his feet. Knee lands by Lawlor, as Carmont attempts a kimura to no avail. Lawlor slips by and takes Carmont to the mat, but it's Carmont attacking. Lawlor flips him up, grabs a hold of his head and is looking to lock in a choke.
Round 3: Lawlor picking Carmont apart with his striking. Carmont has defended several takedowns, but the ones Lawlor has connected on he has done some damage with. Carmont landing with his kicks, misses with a huge right. Lawlor lands with a right hook, as Carmont goes for a pair of uppercuts. Under a minute, and this has been a slow round for action as both men seem fatigued. Lawlor has controlled the round with his offense, avoiding any serious damage by Carmont. Trip-takedown by Carmont doesn't score at the end.

Martin Kampmann vs. Johny Hendricks
We've reached the co-main event, as welterweight contenders Martin Kampmann (20-5) and Johny Hendricks (13-1) collide. Both feel they are deserving of being the No. 1 contender. Dan Miragliotta will be the referee.
Round 1: Trio of lefts connect by Hendricks as he comes storming in. A right followed by a knockout left and this one is all over, as Hendricks floors Kampmann. What an incredible knockout, just incredible. Hendricks goes to the center of the Octagon and signals he wants the belt. The right actually missed, but the left did not for "Bigg Rigg."

Georges St-Pierre (c) vs. Carlos Condit (ic) for the unified UFC welterweight championship
We've arrived at the main event, as UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre (22-2) returns to the Octagon to face interim UFC welterweight champion Carlos Condit (28-5). The talk is over, the fighters have hit the Octagon, and it's time to see who will lead the 170-pound division into 2013. The referee will be Yves Lavigne.
Round 1: What an atmosphere. The Bell Centre was a perfect place for GSP's return, as the Canadian crowd quickly begins chanting. No signs of Octagon rust, as both men are moving, flowing perfectly right off the bat. Condit throwing a lot of leg kicks, as GSP comes in and throws a huge right. GSP has Condit caught up against the fence. Condit lands a nice right off a combo attempt, and GSP fires back with a kick. GSP with a nice right, as Condit counters. GSP goes for the single-leg, and gets it, scoring with his first takedown attempt. Condit goes for a quick armbar, but GSP rolls out and goes back to attack. GSP in half-guard, unloads with a nice left-right. GSP throwing more lefts and rights in the guard of Condit. GSP storms down with a big right and back into the guard. Total control, but GSP is leaving his arm open and Condit is looking for a potential armbar - much like Vitor Belfort did to Jon Jones earlier this year.
Round 2: There's a cut over the right eye of Condit, who also has some damage under the same eye that I noticed before he entered the Octagon. An elbow by GSP bloodied up Condit's face. Condit fluid, throwing a nice punch-kick combo, and another, though neither do much damage. GSP throws his own head kick that Condit moves away from with ease. Big right connects by GSP, as Condit throws a couple of kicks at the lead left leg of GSP. Another head kick attempt by GSP, as Condit is trapped along the fence. Straight left jab by GSP lands, and the blood starts to flow. Condit with a combo that backs GSP up, and a body shot courtesy of Condit. GSP times Condit and lands a right that excites the Montreal crowd. Blood coming from the nose of Condit now, as well as the eye area. Spinning back fist by Condit catches GSP's hand and Condit winces. GSP drops and gets the takedown, moving into half-guard and landing an elbow, as the blood is pouring from the face of Condit. Blood is covering the back of Condit, as the interim champion tries fighting off his back. Condit throwing elbows towards the head of GSP as we go under a minute in the round.
Round 3: Small cut under the left eye of GSP, but nothing like the one Condit has. A left and a side kick by GSP, but Condit lands a kick to the head of GSP that floors him and Condit pounces. Condit is on top, landing big rights to the head. Elbow to the head by Condit, as a huge head kick connected and sent GSP flying back. Condit in control, hammering away and he has opened a cut under the eye of GSP. St-Pierre gets up and eat a left. GSP comes in, angered, lands a left, a right and gets the takedown. Over two minutes left in this round, as Condit is going for a submission from his back. Swelling for GSP on the right side of his head, and Condit delivers some nice elbows to the top of GSP's head, as well. St-Pierre firing back with elbows of his own, working the body of Condit with rights. Condit gets up to his feet, as GSP is able to break an arm submission lock by GSP. Condit looking for the armbar again, as GSP moves into half-guard with 20 seconds left in the round. What a crazy five minutes.
Round 4: The replay of the Condit head-kick was incredible, as it came out of nowhere and GSP never saw it coming. GSP catches, and lands a kick of his own, as we get a small screen of Anderson Silva watching the fight from Octagon-side. GSP gets the takedown and into side-control with four minutes to go. GSP landing, but so is Condit from the bottom. Nice right lands by GSP, as he goes body-head, but Condit fires back. Condit attempting another armbar, now a knee-bar, and moves into a triangle attempt. GSP gets out, as both are slippery from sweat and blood. Condit gets to his feet, and reverses into control. GSP gets up, and takes Condit down, and Silva offers a clap. Silva seemed legit worried when Condit reversed the takedown.
Round 5: We've reached the fifth round, and I know I may be living in the present, but this is Fight of the Year as far as I'm concerned. Condit's corner tells him he needs to finish GSP to win the fight. Condit looking for a big shot, as he cannot afford to get too close to GSP and risk the takedown again. GSP with a huge right connects. Three minutes to go, and Condit comes in with a flying right and a straight left. GSP blocks the head kick attempt, but eats a left on an exchange. Uppercut misses by Condit. GSP lands a stiff jab, and a double-jab, and has Condit up against the fence. GSP gets the takedown and we go under two minutes with GSP in half-guard. GSP working for the submission, while also being cautious now as 90 seconds remain. GSP takes the back as Condit gives it up trying to make something happen with a minute left. Can't fault Condit there, as he knew the situation. Body shots by GSP, as the crowd begins cheering, incluing Silva. Condit going for a kimura as we go under 10 seconds. Vicious elbows will finish this battle by GSP.

Elkins still has the body-lock cinched in and some blood begins pouring out of the nose of Siler. Elkins in complete control, but Siler gives a thumbs-up to the ref as Elkins squeezes the rear-naked. Siler fighting off the choke with great defense, but he has done no damage with his own offense this round. Siler will survive this round, but is behind on the scorecards.
Round 3: Great cornering for Siler, as they tell him he needs the KO to win this fight. Elkins with 8-plus minutes of ground control through two rounds. Elkins catches Siler coming in with a solid right, as Siler answers with a jab. Combo by Elkins lands, causing Siler to back up. Siler steps in and catches a straight jab. Knee attempt by Siler, but it allows Elkins to grab a leg and get his fourth successful takedown in as many attempts. Siler gets to his feet as we approach the three-minute mark. Siler with a knee to the chin of Elkins as they break. Another solid combo lands by Elkins, as does an overhand right. A fifth takedown from Elkins, and he goes into control on the ground. Complete performance by Elkins so far. Elkins passes guard, as Siler goes for a triangle choke. Siler fires up, but Elkins gets a sixth takedown as we go under a minute.

Ivan Menjivar vs. Azamat Gashimov
To the bantamweight division for our next fight, as Ivan Menjivar (24-9) takes on Azamat Gashimov (7-1). Philippe Chartier will be the referee.
Round 1: Menjivar comes right in, and Gashimov is there to answer. Menjivar misses and Gashimov counters, and drops for the takedown. Gashimov gets it, and into guard. Gashimov looking to impose his will, grabbing an arm and moving into a head-triangle but Gashimov shakes it off. Menjivar with an up-kick and Gashimov answers with a right. Nice left lands by Gashimov as he remains on top of Menjivar. With one simple mistake, Menjivar grabs an arm, Gashimov tries to roll/power out of it and is unable to, as Menjivar gets the armbar submission.

Matt Riddle vs. John Maguire
Our next bout is in the welterweight division, as Matt Riddle (6-3) takes on John Maguire (18-4). This bout was originally set for Stephen Thompson vs. Besam Yousef, but both fighters were forced out with injuries. The referee will be Yves Lavigne.
Round 1: A pair of southpaws square off, as Riddle has a seven-inch reach advantage over Maguire. Riddle catches Maguire with a right. Kick to the body by Riddle, who looks much more precise with his striking than Maguire. The Brit comes back with a nice jab, as he still is trying to figure out the distance from Riddle. Maguire counters with a right after a pair of strikes by Riddle. Maguire catches the leg-kick attempt and Riddle spins away. Overhand left fails to connect courtesy of Maguire. Riddle lands a left-hook, follows up with an inside-leg kick but is denied another kick, as Maguire flips him to the canvas. Joe Rogan with a Jet Li-reference after Riddle keeps his balance and spins away. Maguire swarms the second Riddle spinning-attempt, and Riddle turns him towards the cage. Jab lands by Maguire as we go under a minute.
Round 2: Brit James McSweeney in Riddle's corner, which seems weird since Maguire is the Brit. Just a little tidbit of randomness. Maguire lands a nice kick to start the action in this round. Riddle controls Maguire up against the fence, but is unable to do much. Maguire landing some nice, precise strikes, and now doing even more with some punch behind it. Riddle answers, pushing Maguire back and knocking him down. Pair of body shots by Riddle to the grounded Maguire, but Riddle is not jumping right in. Riddle drops down, but is unable to advance and stands back up. No desire by Riddle to have a ground match, and the ref stands them back up. Maguire drops for a single-leg takedown, Riddle fights it off and bullies Maguire up against the fence. A minute to go in the round, and Riddle hits a quick right jab. Right hook lands by Maguire, who grabs a hold of Riddle's neck and is looking for a guillotine as 20 seconds remain in the round. Riddle spins out from the choke, and Riddle lands a combo and a knee to the body, followed by an elbow to the head.
Round 3: Maguire's corner tells him between rounds they have no idea how the scoring went. Maguire with a nice strike, as Riddle is up 58-50 in total strikes landed so far. Riddle with a nice combo to answer. Riddle kicks the lead-leg out of Maguire, and snaps off a nice right jab. Riddle's jab has been more effective so far in this bout, and has kept Maguire at bay. Maguire not going away, though, strikes back. Riddle defends a takedown attempt by Maguire, his third such takedown defense. Riddle lands a knee to the body, which causes Maguire to flinch. Might have been to the groin area of Maguire, the knee, but no stoppage in action. Riddle wants to just stand and trade, but Maguire is hesitant to do so and we'll head to the scorecards.

Antonio Carvalho vs. Rodrigo Damm
We being the FX-televised four-fight prelim portion of the night at featherweight, with Canada's own Antonio Carvalho (14-5) facing Rodrigo Damm (10-5). The referee will be Dan Miragliotta.
Round 1: UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is part of Damm's corner. That "Damm" corner:) Okay, on to the action. Two right lefts by Damm, as he tries to figure out the range. Solid kick to the body by Damm. Carvalho shows his speed with a strike-kick combo. Both have thrown quite a few strikes and kicks, but little has landed. Carvalho with a kick that has caused a welt to form on Damm's left thigh. Quick jab by Damm. Another kick by Carvalho to the thigh of Damm. Carvalho throws a head-kick that misses. Perfectly-executed kick, though, and will likely cause Damm to think about it later in the fight. Pair of left jabs by Damm, and a spinning kick to the midsection of Carvalho. Damm catches Carvalho coming in with a left to the face.
Round 2: Silva was applying ice to the damaged thigh of Damm between rounds, and giving him instructions. Not a bad man to have in your corner. Right back to the kicks for Carvalho to start the round. Front-kick by Damm backs Carvalho up against the fence. Carvalho with another kick to the lead leg that goes unchecked by Damm. Another front-kick to the body connects, and Damm gets Carvalho to the ground. Damm hops over the body of Carvalho and to his back, but Carvalho is able to get to his feet. Much slower pace to this round, as both men seem concerned with the skills of the other. Damm with a nice kick to the leg of Carvalho as we go under a minute in the round.
Round 3: Will be interesting to see how this one is scored if it goes the distance. Neither fighter trying to engage the other. Carvalho's mouthpiece falls out and we have a brief stoppage to clean it before re-insertion. Damm looking like a man possessed, teeing off with power punches to the head of Carvalho. Damm landing at will now, and Carvalho counters with a quick right. Damm fluid with his strikes and kicks, landing multiple shots upon entering Carvalho's reach. Ninety seconds left, and Carvalho counters a left with a head-kick. Overhand-left by Carvalho, and a head-kick, as well. Damm with a flurry as we go under 20 seconds.

Sam Stout vs. John Makdessi
A pair of Canadians do battle in the lightweight division next, as Sam Stout (18-7-1) tangles with John Makdessi (9-2). Marc-Andre Cote will be the third man inside the Octagon.
Round 1: Stout tossing some big rights at Makdessi to start, as Makdessi answers with a side-kick to the body. Stout throws his own kick, misses with a right and nearly face-plants for his efforts. Body shot by Stout connects, as Makdessi answers with a jab. Side-kick again by Makdessi to the body of Stout. Stiff left lands by Stout to the chin. Makdessi continues to shift his style, and lands a nice left. Stout keeps trying to come charging in, but Makdessi has been able to avoid any serious damage. Another huge overhand right misses by Stout, who has thrown several of them - all missing by a mile. Stiff left jab lands by Makdessi, who has definitely been the more efficient striker. Round 2: More of the same from both fighters early in the round, as Makdessi continues to utilize the jab and counter Stout's aggression. Stout comes in this time, grabs a leg and briefly takes Makdessi down to the mat. Both are back up, and Makdessi lands a quick left. Stout with a jab of his own. More counter-striking from Makdessi. Front-kick thrown, and missed, by Makdessi. Body shot by Stout as the round ends.
Round 3: Stout seems more aggressive in the early stages of the final round, likely feeling he is down on the scorecards. Stout has eaten a lot of punches, but is still coming in and throwing his own at Makdessi. Several 1-2 combos from Stout, but he has been unable to land anything with much force behind it. Makdessi connects with a kick to the chin of Stout, who continues to walk forward, eating another stiff jab. Two minutes left, and Makdessi holds a plus-30 advantage in strikes landed. Solid kick thrown by Stout, but just a glancing blow. Stout lands a flurry of strikes, but still unable to really hurt Makdessi. Another low blow by Makdessi, but Stout shakes it off and wants to continue. Failed takedown attempt by Stout and the round comes to an end.

Cyrille Diabate vs. Chad Griggs
Our first, and only, light heavyweight battle of the night is next, as Cyrille Diabate (19-8-3) faces Chad Griggs (11-2). The referee will be Philippe Chartier.
Round 1: Griggs is just bouncing all around the Octagon, and Diabate lands with a knee and a big left and floors Griggs. Diabate pounces and Griggs is able to cover up and tie Diabate up for a brief moment. Diabate is trying to move into side-control, but Griggs slips out, only to wind up on his back again. That initial shot from Diabate looked to knock Griggs out, but he was able to recover. Blood pouring from face of Griggs as Diabate continues to attack. Pair of knees to the face of Griggs, who had knee on the ground but the ref did nothing. Griggs looked at him to say something, and instead took matters into his own hands and slammed Diabate to the mat. However, Diabate remained in control, landed another knee and cinched in a rear-naked choke for the quick submission.

Patrick Cote vs. Alessio Sakara
Our final prelim match of the night is next, as middleweights Patrick Cote (18-8) and Alessio Sakara (19-9) square off. Dan Miragliotta will serve as the referee.
Round 1: Pro-Cote crowd as you would expect for the Canadian. Sakara with a nice right, and a stiff left jab. Cote unloading with several rights and lefts, including a knee to the chin of Sakara, who is covering up. Sakara with an elbow that drops Cote, who is now on the ground looking to cover up. Sakara with several hammerfists to a grounded Cote, and this one is over, as the referee steps in. A pair of elbows, followed by a left hook, caused Cote to lose his balance early, and Sakara followed up with the punches to the side - and some to the back - of the head. It appears that the ref is talking to an official now, and we could have a disqualification.

Mark Hominick vs. Pablo Garza
We open up the main card with featherweights Mark Hominick (20-11) and Pablo Garza (11-3). Hominick is a former contender in the division, but has lost his last three. Garza enters on a two-fight losing skid himself. The referee will be Marc-Andre Cote.
Round 1: Hominick comes right out at Garza, and blocks a pair of solid head-kick attempts by the taller "Scarecrow." Hominick switching levels, lands a nice body shot. Another head-kick by Garza is blocked, as Garza goes for an uppercut that misses. Straight jab to the chest by Hominick, and he follows up with a combo. However, Garza comes back and lands some nice kicks and knees of his own. Excellent striking by both men right now as they keep searching for a knockout blow. Garza goes for a kick that connects to the body, and counters a strike by Hominick with a knee. Straight right jab lands by Hominick, and he follows up with another. Garza attempts a takedown, but Hominick reverses it and hip tosses Garza to the ground. Garza working for an armbar, Hominick trying to pull out, does, and winds up on top. Body and head shots by Hominick as he tries to avoid another submission attempt by Garza. Garza kicks off and gets up, going right at Hominick. The Canadian rocks Garza, pounces with some nice ground strikes, but Garza gets up and is coming after a wobbled Hominick now who has blood pouring from his left eye. Massive cut under the eye of Hominick, Garza lands a left and a right, but survives the round.
Round 2: Huge gash under the left eye of Hominick, who was given his mouthpiece after the round by the referee. Stiff body shot lands by Hominick. Wicked leg kick courtesy of Garza to the lead leg of Hominick. Garza briefly takes the back of Hominick, but winds up in guard instead. Garza still inside the guard, staying busy and staying in control. Repeated elbows to the face of Hominick by Garza, and he does the same again, peppering Hominick's face. Garza's elbow shots have opened a cut under the right eye of Hominick, who attempts a submission but is unable to get it, or get out, from Garza. More elbows to the face and Hominick's bleeding profusely now and looks to have swelling shutting both eyes. Garza unloading and in complete control.
Round 3: Big kicks by Garza to start the final five minutes. Hominick finding his range despite the nasty swelling under both eyes. Garza powers in, though, and gets the takedown without any trouble. Garza has landed 140 strikes to 62 by Hominick with three-plus minutes to go, with many of them in the closed guard via Garza elbows. More elbows from Garza, as Hominick attempts a submission to no avail. Back to controlling the action is Garza, who owns six minutes and counting in terms of ground control. Hominick pushes off and gets up, but Garza back in control and working towards side control. Hominick with an armbar, but he's unable to lock it in.

Mark Bocek vs. Rafael dos Anjos
We enter the lightweight ranks with another Canadian, Mark Bocek (11-4) taking on Brazilian Rafael dos Anjos (17-6). Yves Lavigne will be the third man inside the Octagon.
Round 1: Big knee by Bocek connects in the early stages. So far, dos Anjos has been using his kicks, while Bocek seems like he wants to take this fight to the ground. Bocek drops down for a takedown but dos Anjos fights it off. Knees by dos Anjos connect to the body of Bocek. Flying knee attempt by dos Anjos fails to connect. A minute to go in this opening round and either fighter could take it with a solid finish. Kick connects by dos Anjos, but Bocek grabs the leg and goes for a takedown. Bocek has dos Anjos pinned against the fence, working a single-leg, but is unable to get it. Nice kick to the face by dos Anjos.
Round 2: Bocek catches dos Anjos with an accidental low blow that nearly floors the Brazilian. Upon replay, a straight kick below the belt landed, but dos Anjos is ready to go just seconds later. Stiff jab lands by dos Anjos, who continues moving and bouncing around the cage. Bocek fires in for the takedown, and the two wind up in what looks like a stalemate situation. However, dos Anjos is able to reverse things and get the takedown himself, with Bocek positioned awkwardly against the fence. Almost an armbar attempt by dos Anjos, but Bocek is able to avoid it. Blood coming from the nose of Bocek as dos Anjos gives up on the ground and they stand. Two minutes left, and Bocek looks winded, while dos Anjos continues to bounce around. The Brazilian goes to work on the mat, takes the back of Bocek and unloads with a big right, followed by several more uncontested blows. Excellent showing by dos Anjos, who is looking to secure the back of Bocek. A fourth takedown for dos Anjos, who lands a huge elbow as the round comes to an end.
Round 3: After 10 minutes of intense action, dos Anjos looks like he maybe just went out for a short jog, showing no signs of fatigue at all. Dos Anjos has doubled-up Bocek in terms of significant strikes. Huge takedown by dos Anjos, who is looking for a kimura with three minutes to go. Bocek gets up and goes for a kimura of his own, but dos Anjos quickly slips out. Swelling forming around left eye of Bocek, who is still coming after dos Anjos. Nice kick to the body by dos Anjos, who fires off a front-kick that lands, as well. Spinning kick by dos Anjos, who looks like he is just having fun inside the Octagon.

Francis Carmont vs. Tom Lawlor
Middleweights hit the Octagon, as Francis Carmont (19-7) takes on Tom Lawlor (8-4). For those that missed it, Lawlor performed a spot-on "Shockmaster" entrance during the weigh-ins on Friday, complete with mask and fall. The referee will be Philippe Chartier.
Round 1: Lawlor goes right into the huge body of Carmont, pushing him against the fence. Lawlor doing his best to keep Carmont against the fence here, not wanting to catch any of his strikes. Ref steps in and separates them, and Carmont stuffs a takedown attempt. Another takedown attempt by Lawlor, but Carmont moves for a kimura, but is unable to get it. Back to the center they go, and Carmont has his right locked and loaded. Lawlor slides in and goes low, landing a nice uppercut. Carmont goes for a takedown, but Lawlor jumps in and locks in a choke, going for the submission. Lawlor cranking, but Carmont gets out.
Round 2: Carmont lands a nice kick to start the action, while Lawlor wildly misses a combo. Still, that huge right is locked by Carmont, who unloads but misses. Big knee to the face of Lawlor, who regroups himself. Left connects by Carmont as they separate. Lawlor with a counter right. Lawlor gets the takedown with two minutes to go, but Carmont gets to his feet. Knee lands by Lawlor, as Carmont attempts a kimura to no avail. Lawlor slips by and takes Carmont to the mat, but it's Carmont attacking. Lawlor flips him up, grabs a hold of his head and is looking to lock in a choke.
Round 3: Lawlor picking Carmont apart with his striking. Carmont has defended several takedowns, but the ones Lawlor has connected on he has done some damage with. Carmont landing with his kicks, misses with a huge right. Lawlor lands with a right hook, as Carmont goes for a pair of uppercuts. Under a minute, and this has been a slow round for action as both men seem fatigued. Lawlor has controlled the round with his offense, avoiding any serious damage by Carmont. Trip-takedown by Carmont doesn't score at the end.

Martin Kampmann vs. Johny Hendricks
We've reached the co-main event, as welterweight contenders Martin Kampmann (20-5) and Johny Hendricks (13-1) collide. Both feel they are deserving of being the No. 1 contender. Dan Miragliotta will be the referee.
Round 1: Trio of lefts connect by Hendricks as he comes storming in. A right followed by a knockout left and this one is all over, as Hendricks floors Kampmann. What an incredible knockout, just incredible. Hendricks goes to the center of the Octagon and signals he wants the belt. The right actually missed, but the left did not for "Bigg Rigg."

Georges St-Pierre (c) vs. Carlos Condit (ic) for the unified UFC welterweight championship
We've arrived at the main event, as UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre (22-2) returns to the Octagon to face interim UFC welterweight champion Carlos Condit (28-5). The talk is over, the fighters have hit the Octagon, and it's time to see who will lead the 170-pound division into 2013. The referee will be Yves Lavigne.
Round 1: What an atmosphere. The Bell Centre was a perfect place for GSP's return, as the Canadian crowd quickly begins chanting. No signs of Octagon rust, as both men are moving, flowing perfectly right off the bat. Condit throwing a lot of leg kicks, as GSP comes in and throws a huge right. GSP has Condit caught up against the fence. Condit lands a nice right off a combo attempt, and GSP fires back with a kick. GSP with a nice right, as Condit counters. GSP goes for the single-leg, and gets it, scoring with his first takedown attempt. Condit goes for a quick armbar, but GSP rolls out and goes back to attack. GSP in half-guard, unloads with a nice left-right. GSP throwing more lefts and rights in the guard of Condit. GSP storms down with a big right and back into the guard. Total control, but GSP is leaving his arm open and Condit is looking for a potential armbar - much like Vitor Belfort did to Jon Jones earlier this year.
Round 2: There's a cut over the right eye of Condit, who also has some damage under the same eye that I noticed before he entered the Octagon. An elbow by GSP bloodied up Condit's face. Condit fluid, throwing a nice punch-kick combo, and another, though neither do much damage. GSP throws his own head kick that Condit moves away from with ease. Big right connects by GSP, as Condit throws a couple of kicks at the lead left leg of GSP. Another head kick attempt by GSP, as Condit is trapped along the fence. Straight left jab by GSP lands, and the blood starts to flow. Condit with a combo that backs GSP up, and a body shot courtesy of Condit. GSP times Condit and lands a right that excites the Montreal crowd. Blood coming from the nose of Condit now, as well as the eye area. Spinning back fist by Condit catches GSP's hand and Condit winces. GSP drops and gets the takedown, moving into half-guard and landing an elbow, as the blood is pouring from the face of Condit. Blood is covering the back of Condit, as the interim champion tries fighting off his back. Condit throwing elbows towards the head of GSP as we go under a minute in the round.
Round 3: Small cut under the left eye of GSP, but nothing like the one Condit has. A left and a side kick by GSP, but Condit lands a kick to the head of GSP that floors him and Condit pounces. Condit is on top, landing big rights to the head. Elbow to the head by Condit, as a huge head kick connected and sent GSP flying back. Condit in control, hammering away and he has opened a cut under the eye of GSP. St-Pierre gets up and eat a left. GSP comes in, angered, lands a left, a right and gets the takedown. Over two minutes left in this round, as Condit is going for a submission from his back. Swelling for GSP on the right side of his head, and Condit delivers some nice elbows to the top of GSP's head, as well. St-Pierre firing back with elbows of his own, working the body of Condit with rights. Condit gets up to his feet, as GSP is able to break an arm submission lock by GSP. Condit looking for the armbar again, as GSP moves into half-guard with 20 seconds left in the round. What a crazy five minutes.
Round 4: The replay of the Condit head-kick was incredible, as it came out of nowhere and GSP never saw it coming. GSP catches, and lands a kick of his own, as we get a small screen of Anderson Silva watching the fight from Octagon-side. GSP gets the takedown and into side-control with four minutes to go. GSP landing, but so is Condit from the bottom. Nice right lands by GSP, as he goes body-head, but Condit fires back. Condit attempting another armbar, now a knee-bar, and moves into a triangle attempt. GSP gets out, as both are slippery from sweat and blood. Condit gets to his feet, and reverses into control. GSP gets up, and takes Condit down, and Silva offers a clap. Silva seemed legit worried when Condit reversed the takedown.
Round 5: We've reached the fifth round, and I know I may be living in the present, but this is Fight of the Year as far as I'm concerned. Condit's corner tells him he needs to finish GSP to win the fight. Condit looking for a big shot, as he cannot afford to get too close to GSP and risk the takedown again. GSP with a huge right connects. Three minutes to go, and Condit comes in with a flying right and a straight left. GSP blocks the head kick attempt, but eats a left on an exchange. Uppercut misses by Condit. GSP lands a stiff jab, and a double-jab, and has Condit up against the fence. GSP gets the takedown and we go under two minutes with GSP in half-guard. GSP working for the submission, while also being cautious now as 90 seconds remain. GSP takes the back as Condit gives it up trying to make something happen with a minute left. Can't fault Condit there, as he knew the situation. Body shots by GSP, as the crowd begins cheering, incluing Silva. Condit going for a kimura as we go under 10 seconds. Vicious elbows will finish this battle by GSP.
