The ESPN app for the Xbox 360 has become a heck of a lot more useful, offering all sorts of new content and features with a recent update.

You’re cost of admission to the ESPN app is an Exbox LIVE Gold subscription. So long as you have that rolling, you’ll now be able to take advantage of a far superior sports watching experience, with all of ESPN’s live network programming available. From specialty shows like Buzzer Beater and Goal Line to content pulled from ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN 3, ESPN U and ESPN 8 (The Ocho), the new ESPN 360 app aims to drown users in a deluge of sporting content.

Along with every live game broadcast provided by the ESPN family, app users will also have access to all of ESPN’s specialty shows like SportsCenter, SportsNation and the Mike and Mike Show. When you’re not catching up on the highlights, you can catch any broadcasted game including NFL, MLB and NBA.

The new app, powered by WatchESPN, also offers a handful of new features that should make your app a lot more useful. First up is the My Sports option, which allows users to select their favorites sports to create a quicker access to the channels and a personalized daily feed of news and highlights.

A mini-guide at the bottom of the screen will make navigating the app easier and gesture/voice commands using Kinect means you’ll never have to waste time looking for the remote.

One of the most useful features, though, is the split-screen mode, which lets you watch two broadcasts simultaneously. You can even program reminders for individual games or shows, meaning you’ll never have to miss the first half of your favorite game because you were too absorbed in Blops II to look up at the clock.
