Android and iOS owners will be getting their own versions of GTA: Vice City on December 6, it's been confirmed.

GTA series developer Rockstar has confirmed the news that Grand Theft Auto: Vice City 10th Anniversary Edition (to give it its full name) will be getting a simultaneous launch on iPhone, iPad and Android exactly two weeks from today.

The developer promises that the revamped game with bring "the full experience" to mobile devices with a whole heap of enhancements. These will include native high-resolution graphics (including support for Apple's Retina devices), updated character models and improved lighting effects.

Rockstar is also promising "new and more precise firing and targeting options." Whether this is 'more precise' in relation to the slightly fiddly GTA 3 conversion or the original console GTA: Vice City we're not sure. We presume the former.

Either way, "a fully customizable control layout" will be featured.

Impressively, Rockstar has even taken the step of listing all of the devices that GTA: Vice City 10th Anniversary Edition will run on at present. On iOS, it won't work on anything lower than the A4 devices - so the iPhone 4, iPod touch 4th generation and original iPad and above.

For Android it seems like an almost exclusively multi-core affair, with the low end appearing to be devices equipped with the Tegra 2 chip. Two glimmers of hope for older single-core Android users, though, is the presence of the Google Nexus S and the HTC Flyer on the list alongside the expected Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X, Google Nexus 4 and the like.

GTA: Vice City is arguably the most beloved Grand Theft Auto game in the series, with its 1980s Miami setting and numerous nods to '80s pop culture.
