BY MMAJUNKIE.COM STAFF ON DEC 13, 2012 AT 1:40 PM ET

A welterweight bout between "The Ultimate Fighter 11" winner Court McGee (13-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) and veteran Josh Neer (33-12-1 MMA, 6-8 UFC) is targeted for UFC 157 in February.

A source close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com verbal agreements are in place for the fight. MMAFighting.com first reported the matchup.

UFC officials haven't formally announced the fight.

UFC 157 takes place Feb. 23 at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. The event's main card, which is headlined by the first-ever women's fight in the promotion (champ Ronda Rousey vs. Liz Carmouche), airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.

McGee vs. Neer likely will be part of the prelims.

McGee, who drops from middleweight to welterweight, finds himself in a must-win situation. After winning "TUF 11" with a victory over Kris McCray, he then topped Ryan Jensen and Dongi Yang for a 3-0 start to his UFC career. However, The Pit fighter since has suffered back-to-back decision loss to Constantinos Philippou and Nick Ring.

Neer, meanwhile, also looks to avoid a third straight defeat. The vet had posted six straight wins, which included stoppage victories over the UFC's Keith Wisniewski and Duane Ludwig. Since then, though, the Iowa-based fighter has suffered a knockout loss to Mike Pyle and an upset submission defeat to Justin Edwards.

The latest UFC 157 card includes:

Champ Ronda Rousey vs. Liz Carmouche - for women's bantamweight title
Dan Henderson vs. Lyoto Machida
Urijah Faber vs. Ivan Menjivar
Lavar Johnson vs. Brendan Schaub*
Neil Magny vs. Jon Manley*
Court McGee vs. Josh Neer*
