Ahead of its planned crash landing on a lunar mountain in December, Nasa's Ebb spacecraft took some images of the moon's surface from orbit.

The video of the surface of the moon was recorded by cameras on the Ebb spacecraft three days before it was intentionally crashed into a lunar mountain on December 17.

As part of the GRAIL mission (Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory), which was launched in 2011, spacecrafts Ebb and Flow had the task of orbiting the moon at an altitude of 34 miles and helping researchers find out more about the moon's gravity.

The first clip in the video is made up of 931 frames, taken from Ebb's forward-facing camera. The second clip is comprised of 1498 frames and is taken from its rear camera.
