ECW Results - 12th Sep 2006
Taped From: New York City, NY (Madison Square Garden)
Commentators: Joey Styles & Tazz

- The ECW opening airs.

- We then go live to Madison Square Garden where the ECW theme music can be heard. Paul Heyman is shown making his way down the aisle with his security behind him. ECW Announcer Justin Roberts refers to Heyman as the "father of Extreme Championship Wrestling." Heyman gets on the mic and says the savior of the wrestling industry as arrived at Madison Square Garden. He reminds the crowd they are apart of history with ECW performing for the first time at the most famous arena in the world. Heyman refers to himself as a "New York boy" and teases that he will thank the fans, but instead chooses to thank himself which garners heat. He said when he listened to you, the fans, ECW went no where. But when he made compromises with Vince McMahon, ECW went from the Bingo Hall to The Garden. Heyman started to put over how big ECW has become and how it has the largest athlete in the world as champion when Sabu's music hits. Sabu appears in the entrance aisle, posing to the sky. Heyman yells at Sabu that if he sets foot in the ring, he will pin him like he did two weeks ago. Sabu then charges Heyman's security with a steel chair in hand, knocking them both out. Sabu hit the ring and tackled Heyman. Heyman's security guards come in the ring and go after Sabu. Sabu knocks out both with chair shots and then hits one of the security guards with an Arabian Facebuster off the top rope using the steel chair. Heyman says Sabu will pay the price tonight when he faces Big Show for the ECW Championship in an Extreme Rules Match. Sabu then jumps over the top rope and takes out both security guards as Heyman stares him down.

- Rob Van Dam defeated Hardcore Holly via DQ. The finish saw RVD getting ready to hit the Five Star Frog Splash when Stevie Richards hit the ring. RVD jumped off the top rope and took out Richards with a high kick. Mike Knox hit the ring and RVD took him out. Test then grabbed RVD and hit a full nelson slam to cause the DQ finish. Richards and Knox held RVD up as Holly got some cheap shots in when The Sandman's music hit. The Sandman and Tommy Dreamer hit the ring cleaning house. Sandman took out Richards, Knox and Test all with singapore cane shots. Richards was the last one left and took another cane shot from Sandman, a DDT from Dreamer and a Five Star from RVD.

- Clips are shown of the ECW Championship Match between Big Show and Sabu back on August 22 when Sabu took out Big Show with a ring bell numerous times.

- A promo for "The Marine" starring John Cena airs.

- CM Punk defeated "The Reject" Shannon Moore. Punk got a very strong response from the crowd in MSG. A loud "CM PUNK" chant even started up to the smiling of Punk. Little offense by Moore in the match as it was all Punk. The finish saw Punk hit the modified Rock Bottom into the Anaconda Vice. Moore tried to fight out of the submission, but eventually tapped out. Punk worked very solid in the match as he has looked sloppy working with other ECW wrestlers in the past few weeks.

- Backstage, Rene Dupree is shown combing his hair. He said his long-awaited ECW debut will be coming up next.

- Backstage, The FBI (Little Guido & Tony Mamaluke) were congratulating CM Punk on his victory over Shannon Moore when Kelly Kelly walked up. She also congratulated Punk on his win and wished she could go out tonight and celebrate with him. Kelly brings up she is only 19, but that they can stay in reminding him she is an exhibitionist. Mike Knox then walks up and tells Punk "EXCUSE ME" as he grabs Kelly and walks off.

- Kevin Thorn and Ariel came out. Ariel teased she was going to bug Joey Styles again at ringside. Joey backed off quickly. This looks to be a version of Chris Harris bugging Don West all the time on TNA.

- Rene Dupree defeated Balls Mahoney. Lots of back and forth action between Dupree and Mahoney. Dupree even snuck in his classic "French Tickler" dance followed by an elbow to Mahoney. Mahoney also did the right hands with the fans in MSG chanting "BALLS" with each one that connected. The finish saw Mahoney go to the outside and grab a steel chair. When he got up on the ring apron, the referee took the chair away. Kevin Thorn then ran up and pushed Mahoney head first into the steel steps. Mahoney bounced off with force and hit the mat. Thorn threw Mahoney back in the ring and Dupree covered to get the pinfall.

- Backstage, Matt Striker was shown for another classroom segment. Striker mentioned he still didn't understand why people found The Sandman and his actions entertaining. He added that while Sandman keeps odd company, he keeps intelligent company. Striker reminded the fans that he is in ECW to be their teacher.

- Joey Styles & Tazz plugged the Hell in a Cell Match at Unforgiven involving ECW Champion Big Show teaming with Vince & Shane McMahon against D-Generation X. Clips were also shown from Raw last night when Big Show attacked Triple H and Shawn Michaels backstage before Vince McMahon's match with Triple H. They even showed footage from the main event of Vince covering Triple H after help from Shane McMahon and Big Show. Little too much Raw footage on ECW if you ask me, but it involves Big Show so I guess it is still ECW related.

- Big Show defeated Sabu to retain the ECW Championship in an Extreme Rules Match. Lots of early offense by Big Show. Big Show tried to prove a point by smashing a steel chair down to nothing with his foot in front of Sabu. Sabu eventually came back with some stiff steel chair shots to the head on Big Show. Sabu was also thrown to the outside where Paul Heyman's security got in some cheap shots to the laughter of Heyman. The fans begged for some tables halfway through the match and they got it. One spot saw Sabu counter a chokeslam by Big Show in the ring into a DDT through a table. When a pinfall attempted failed on Big Show by Sabu, he then sent Big Show over the top rope crashing through another table setup on the outside. Sabu grabbed a chair and smacked it over the back of Big Show against the ring post. Big Show hunched over another table and Sabu rolled back in the ring setting up a steel chair. When Sabu jumped off it, balanced on the top rope and jumped off that, Big Show caught him in mid-air and then chokeslammed him through the table. The finish saw Big Show throw Sabu back in the ring, hit him with two big backbreakers over his knee and then finished it off with a big leg drop over the chest to get the pinfall.
