Facebook messages are fine for, say, making brunch plans. They're not OK for telling a mother her son has died. Fine work by the Clayton County (Ga.) Police Department, which sent Facebook messages to Anna Lamb-Creasey and her daughter asking them to call. But they went unchecked for nearly a month as Lamb-Creasey searched for her missing son, Rickie Lamb. The message, from a profile named "Misty Hancock" with a photo of rapper T.I., was filtered into an "Other" folder because the women weren't Facebook friends with Misty, and even after finding it, they didn't realize it was from police. When Lamb-Creasey's daughter finally called, an officer told her Rickie had been killed crossing the street, and his body had been waiting in the morgue for three weeks.
