After news broke earlier this week that WWE superstar and number one contender for the World Heavyweight title, Jack Swagger was arrested, the Internet might have exploded.
Swagger just won one of the biggest matches of his career at WWE Elimination Chamber 2013 and is supposed to face Alberto Del Rio at WrestleMania 29.
His new character, along with Zeb Colter was making headlines for essentially mocking the Tea Party.
So who is affected by Jack Swagger’s arrest? More importantly, who are the winners and losers?

Winners:

Alberto Del Rio

Alberto Del Rio could be a winner after Jack Swagger’s arrest if WWE were actually considering giving Swagger the win at WrestleMania.
Del Rio has been a very successful World Heavyweight Champion thus far due to turning babyface at WWE TLC 2012 and having the crowd behind him. He is the focal point of Smackdown every week and his manager, Ricardo Rodriguez is also popular among WWE fans.
There is no way of knowing if WWE had planned to have Del Rio drop the title to Swagger, but after the arrest, Del Rio could hold the title a lot longer than originally planned.

Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler could also be a winner after Jack Swagger’s arrest as it could expedite the timing of Ziggler’s cash in.
Ziggler has held the Money in the Bank briefcase since July and after John Cena cashed in his briefcase in the same month, WWE fans have been speculating when Ziggler would do the same. Ziggler has attempted to cash in numerous times only to be denied by other superstars. Cashing in at WrestleMania would be a big deal for Ziggler as he would be the first superstar to cash in at the show of shows.
Perhaps, Ziggler cashes in before WrestleMania to set up a rematch with Del Rio.

Chris Jericho

Finally, Chris Jericho could be a winner after Jack Swagger’s arrest as many WWE fans were hoping for a Ziggler versus Jericho match at WrestleMania 29.
One popular thought was Chris Jericho would win the Elimination Chamber match, while Dolph Ziggler would cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase. This would set up a match between the two at WrestleMania 29. I was completely against this idea for a number of reasons. Jericho’s part-time status and Del Rio’s success are just a couple of the reasons.
Now that Jack Swagger is likely to lose his spot in the WrestleMania match, Chris Jericho could find his way into the situation. Whether it is against Ziggler in a singles match or in a triple threat with Del Rio, Jericho’s chances of challenging for the World Heavyweight title has increased tremendously.
It would be interesting to see two triple threat matches for the World Titles at WrestleMania. The Rock, CM Punk and John Cena for the WWE title and then Jericho, Del Rio and Ziggler for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Losers:

Jack Swagger

The obvious loser in this situation is the self-proclaimed “Real American” Jack Swagger as his dreams of headlining WrestleMania are in serious question.
Next week on Raw we should learn what punishment, if any, Swagger will serve as a result of his arrest, DUI and possession of marijuana. He could lose his World Heavyweight Championship match to another superstar such as Chris Jericho, Dolph Ziggler or even Randy Orton. If WWE chooses to keep the match as it is, the chances of Swagger winning diminish greatly.
It would be absolutely shocking if Jack Swagger keeps his title match at WrestleMania and goes on to win it too. Perhaps it would just be a set up for Dolph Ziggler to cash in at the show of shows.

Zeb Colter

The other loser in this situation is the man who returned to WWE as Swagger’s manager, Uncle Zeb Colter.
The man formerly known as Dutch Mantel was developing one of the most talked about gimmicks in a long time. Reports have shared that WWE is getting a lot of mainstream attention from the media for the character.
If Swagger is suspended or released, where does that leave Colter?
WWE could assign him to be the manager of a different superstar, or he could be left without anything to do. When Brock Lesnar quit WWE, Paul Heyman was reassigned to be CM Punk’s manager and that certainly worked out.
Hopefully, Colter does stay in WWE, as he is very talented on the mic and would help other superstars get over as he was doing with Swagger.

Who do you think are the winners and losers as a result of Jack Swagger’s arrest?
