With his Fox pilot “The List” not making the cut of next seasons pickups, Michael Pena has quickly found his next project and is in talks to join the cast of Sony’s World War II thriller “Fury” starring Brad Pitt.

Shia LaBeouf and Logan Lerman also star with David Ayer writing and directing.

The story follows the commander of a Sherman tank and its five-man crew on a mission behind enemy lines in April 1945 as Nazi Germany collapses.

Pena would play a member of the crew. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news.

QED Intl. is producing with John Lesher’s Le Grisbi Prods. and Ethan Smith. Alex Ott is co-producing.

Lensing is set to begin in September with a Nov. 14, 2014 release date set.

The casting marks a reteaming of Pena and Ayer, who recently worked together on the Open Road cop drama “End of Watch.” Sources say Ayer wanted to work with the thesp so much so that he wrote a role for Pena, but had to wait until pilot pickups before an offer could be made.

The CAA and Management 360-repped Pena was last seen in Warner Bros. “Gangster Squad” and lends his voice to the DreamWorks Animation pic “Turbo,” which bows later this summer.
