After nearly two decades of legal wrangling, it seems that someone in Anna Nicole Smith's family is about to benefit from her 1994 marriage to 90-year-old oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall. A California judge has ruled that Dannielynn Birkhead, Smith's daughter (but not Marshall's; he died in 1995 after 13 months of marriage), is entitled to sanctions against the billionaire's family because of nefarious legal tactics deployed in the battle to keep the family fortune. Dannielynn, who is now 6, could be entitled to up to $49 million in compensation for the Marshall family lawyers' misdeeds. But her own lawyers are likely eyeing that sum with barely contained glee.
