Super Mario 3D World coming to Wii U this December - first trailer

Nintendo has announced Super Mario 3D World for release on Wii U in December 2013.

President Satoru Iwata revealed the game on Tuesday as part of the Nintendo Direct E3 press conference, when he said it "represents the next step forward in the new style of Mario 3D action games that we first introduced in Super Mario 3D Land for 3DS".

The game introduces a multiplayer mode for the first time in the Super Mario 3D action series.

It supports four users playing as Mario, Luigi, Toad and Peach, each of whom have their own unique abilities. Toad, for example, can run faster than the others and Peach can hover in mid-air.

"They all have unique personalities that will be familiar to those who have played Super Mario Bros. 2 for the NES," Iwata said.

"Multiplayer mode is as cooperative or competitive as you choose to make it, so you can enjoy this new 3D Mario adventure in a different way every time you play."

There's also a new Cat Mario power up which allows the plumber to perform new actions like climbing up walls and scratching enemies with his claws.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said: "In addition to the new Pokemon and storyline featured in Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, there are a number of new game elements that have been added.

"This time, the new Fairy type has been added, a change that adds an additional layer of strategy to gameplay.

"Another new feature, called Pokemon-Amie, allows you to build a deeper connection to your Pokemon by taking care of them.

"The game includes many new elements and features which we will be revealing gradually throughout the year."

"You can also glide through the sky and race underwater, as in Mario Kart 7, or ride motorcycles like in >prod>Mario Kart Wii."

"Mario Kart 8 will offer the best collection of online multiplayer modes that the series has seen yet," Iwata added.

"This time it's not just racing with other players, but sharing the fun of Mario Kart with others worldwide over Miiverse."

Wii Fit U and Wii Party U delayed to end of 2013

Two major Nintendo casual games, Wii Fit U and Wii Party U, have been delayed, the former to this winter and the latter to October 2013.

Nintendo chief executive Satoru Iwata announced the decision during the E3 Nintendo Direct event on Tuesday. He said both games "needed more time for development", though didn't discuss specifics.

Originally set for an "early 2013" release, both games are now key experiments for Nintendo, allowing the corporation to gauge the casual appeal of its new console, which has underperformed in the market.

Wii Fit traditionally sold at its best during January - often a month of New Years resolutions and renewed exercise habits.

Wii U Party features:

Everyone at the party competes with his or her own Mii characters in a medley of party games
Experience new ways to play with others using the Wii U GamePad. For example, in "Lost-and-Found Square," imagine you are the person holding the GamePad and you are lost in a playground. Your goal is to describe your surroundings based on what you see on the GamePad in order to help the other players find your location
Post your impressions of game sessions to Miiverse. You can rate your performance by adding a one- to five-star ranking after the match is over
When you want to leave the TV behind, you can choose to play exclusively on the Wii U GamePad with a wide variety of "Tabletop Minigames," ranging from foosball to baseball, for two-player competitive and cooperative play
In addition to the main games that everyone can play together, there are 80 minigames that can be played on your own. These include the "Tabletop Minigame" that can be played with the Wii U GamePad only

Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD October release date confirmed - trailer

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will be available for Wii U in October 2013, Nintendo has confirmed.

The HD remake was shown during the Nintendo Direct E3 stream, in which company president Satoru Iwata provided additional information about the game and detailed new features.

According to the executive, visuals in Wind Waker HD are rendered at 1080p and the game uses "shaders to improve visual expression and texture quality".

Iwata added: "With these visuals Wind Waker looks as if it has been reborn."

The development team is said to have improved the overall tempo of exploration, while one of the new features is an update to the Tingle Tuner, which allowed the GameCube version of the title to connect to GBAs for assisted play.

A new item called 'Tingle Bottle' allows players to interact with the Miiverse community from within the game. Messages can be typed or drawn, put in a bottle and then thrown into the sea. They'll then appear in other players' games.

Features

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD features 1080p visuals that will immerse players in the game like never before
With the Wii U GamePad controller, it's easy to manage your inventory and view maps
Players will enjoy cruising the open sea with a new sail that gives them more speed bringing them to their next destination and action-packed adventure that much faster
Once players receive the "Tingle Bottle" item, they can connect with others by posting comments to Miiverse. Through this new feature, comments or screen shots posted on Miiverse will wash up in various locations, such as the shores, of other players' games. It's like finding a message in a bottle
Players can also take and store a greater number of pictures as well as higher-quality photos with an improved Pictograph and then post them on Miiverse
If the television is already in use, this game can been played off-TV on the Wii U
GamePad

The Retro Studios developed game will support two player simultaneous multiplayer with playable characters including Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata says that in addition to the game's side-view presentation, depending on the stage, the camera will switch to show dynamic scenes that enable different gameplay experiences.

Platinum Games' sequel to its cult action title, Bayonetta, will launch on Wii U next year.

Nintendo chief executive Satoru Iwata gave the game an "2014" target release date, though did not specify any further.

Zelda: Link To The Past 2 renamed A Link Between Worlds - trailer

First original Zelda game for 3DS shown in new video

Nintendo has released a new trailer for The Legend Of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

This is the new 3DS adventure previously known as The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past 2, which seems to have been given a new name.

The trailer shows footage of Link collecting rupees, slashing Octoroks and using various weapons including his hammer, bow and shield. You can also see his new Merge technique, which turns Link into an illustration and lets him stick to walls.

qAluniNRibs

Zelda director Eiji Aonuma previously stated that the game would feature both light and dark worlds, much like A Link To The Past on SNES did, so the title clearly refers to this.
