New Age Outlaws

The New Age Outlaws may get a title shot at the 2014 “Royal Rumble.” According to both F4Wonline.com and PWInsider.com, Road Dogg Jesse James and Bad Ass Billy Gunn are expected to take on Cody Rhodes and Goldust for the WWE Tag Team Championship at the twenty-seventh annual “Royal Rumble” Pay-Per-View on Jan. 26.

Not only are the New Age Outlaws expected to compete for the tag team titles at the Rumble, but PWInsider.com goes as far as to say that the duo are going to be active on WWE television for the foreseeable future. Reports say that Gunn and James will appear on WWE TV for at least the remainder of January, if not longer.

Rumors have been circulating that Rhodes and Goldust are set to lose the WWE Tag Team Championship belts at, or before, the “Royal Rumble.” The loss would then lead to a hostile Rumble match confrontation between the two, and become the catalyst for a one-on-one match at WrestleMania XXX.

The Wyatt Family were initially deemed the next WWE Tag Team Champions, but plans may have changed, and the Outlaws may have a shot at bringing home the gold for a sixth time in their illustrious career.

This is why championships can't be taken seriously. There is no rankings anymore, let's just bring back guys from the past and throw them in contention for the title. Don't get me wrong, the New Age Outlaws are a great team, but they haven't done anything in the past several years to deserve a tag title shot. Meanwhile, we have tag teams that are young, full of potential, and need to be showcased to be taken seriously as contenders for the tag team belts. But no, shove them behind the curtain and bring in the Outlaws to get a title shot handed to them. I don't know if this is a sign of Triple H handing opportunities to his buddies, but this is NOT good for business. The company needs to focus on developing the young talent they have, but they refuse to do that because they want to instead bring back proven stars of the past to try and draw ratings.

The WWE is far ahead of TNA as far as success goes, but they cannot expect to continue to thrive when they continually ignore the progression of their talent and continue to bring in old stars to get cheap ratings pops.

This can work if they use them properly and allow them to put some focus on the tag division
