A couple is facing charges after police say they were making counterfeit money in Elizabeth City.
Police say they’d received a number of calls about counterfeit money being passed in several locations in the area.
They conducted an investigation and searched Terrence and Ronika Tillett’s home on Sanford Drive Friday.
Police say when they entered the home, they found Terrence Tillett, another person and two minors.
Officers say they smelled marijuana inside of the home when they entered.
During their search, they found counterfeit money as well as the equipment that was used to make it. They also discovered a stolen 9mm Taurus automatic handgun and a small amount of marijuana.
They say the gun was stolen from a home on Mallard Drive back in 2010.
Terrence Tillett has been charged with uttering a forged paper or instrument containing a forged endorsement, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a stolen firearm.
He was released on an $8,000.00 secured bond.
Ronika Tillett was also charged with uttering a forged paper or instrument containing a forged endorsement and possession of a stolen firearm. She was released on a $4,000.00 unsecured bond.
